I know some people mix their own fuel. The closes hoby shop to me is about 60 miles away and he doesn't even sell gallons only quarts which come out to like 30 bucks a gallon. I buy torco 20% online for 36 dollars shipped. Was wondering if it would benefit me to make my own fuel or if its gonna be cheaper to just stick with the torco.

I was told once by a guy that does RC planes that mixing your own is cheaper and told me he would show me how but I live in an apt and have no where to mix or store the stuff so I just stick to my Odonnell's 30%. Its only $28/gal. here so all in all its not to bad. I have more electrics than nitros anyway.

I've got the place to store the stuff and a good open air carport to mix it. i have a room in my house devoted to rc's, hunting, and fishing.

I've done some reading about making a home brew and these are the numbers I've come up with for a 20% nitro with a 14% oil gal.

18 oz oil
22oz nitro methane
and 88 oz of methanol

Sound about right if so I'm gonna do some pricing and see what i could make a gallon for.

i have been mixing my own nitro for 2 years. i find only one advantage, i can make any percent of nitro. if i had it to over i would not mix my own

I'm not gonna mix my own I can buy 4 gallons of torco nitro at a time online for the same price I could mixx it myself did some figuring earlier

Like Moe said, making any percentage you want is the only advantage I can see. If you haven't ran Torco yet,I think you'll really like it

FYI = your numbers only give a 17% nitro content.

yea I figured that out earlier lol I refigured them up and they are off by a few oz's I wasn't figuring it up properly thanks for the correction tho and I love torco its what I've been running since I've gotten into thw hobby bc its easiest for me to get. I ran a half gallon of trx top fuel switched to torco and never looked back
