It rather depends on the fuel you use. The O.S. nr.8 glowplug is too small out of my experience.

If that is the manufacturer's recommendation, then that is the plug I would use. Some plugs are long reach, and some are not. Using a plug that is a wee bit too long can potentially collide with the top of the piston. The O.S.#8 isn't always the plug for everything.
