i got a hpi mx-1 hummer body coming to me hopfully tomorow and I'm wanting to fit it on my hsp behemoth but the body has those little dimples on where to use the reamer but the post position for the truck is different, i knew it would be but I'm wondering how to get it lined up so its as near to perfect.

i think it has the same width betwwen the posts as the savage but savage is 1/8 scale? and mines 1/10.

btw the wheel base for my truck is 275mm. and the wheel base of the hpi shell is 273mm but hopfully 2mm shouldn't make a difference.

Don't sweat it. I'll assume you're ordering a clear, unpainted body. When it arrives, trim off the excess plastic. Then position the body over the Behemoth. Just line it up the way you want it to fit. Then mark the body post positions on the outside of the body. Use your reamer there. Don't worry about the dimples that are molded in. Just ignore them. You should be able to get it to fit just fine.
If it's already painted, just put a dab of paint or grease or even peanut butter on the tips of your body posts. Then position the body where you want it. Push it down onto the posts and they'll leave a little mark on the inside of the body. Just ream there for your posts.

thanks, just dont wanna get it wrong you know.
peanut butter haha.

and yeah its unpainted, I'm doing it flat black.

Just do as Candyman said and you will be good to go. I trim and fit all my lids prior to painting, it's much easier to get everything correct, and you don't run a risk of scrathing the paint, or drilling the holes in the wrong spot.

So your gonna do flat black, I love the flat black look. Make sure you post up some pics after you paint it.

yeah, thanks, i have a bit on my dremmel thats a little ball shape at the end, i tested it on a beater shell and wont go through, just makes the dimples so that will help alot.

i sure will get pics up but they wont have wheels on :(
i got some savage warlocks for my truck but the hub holder bit is further into the wheel and its 17mm so I'm going to try get the hpi axle convertion kit oh and of course some tyres lol.

EDIT: can i use automotive spray on the shell? it says to use acrylic but if i do need acrylic id need to get a hour journey to town, then go to lhs and but a 150ml can for £3.99 when i could litraly go up the road and buy automotive spray (iv used on such things as xmods and mini-z), 400ml can for £2.50.

as this truck is basicly a copy of a hpi mt2 but with 8 shocks and bigger wheels iv decided to get the mt2 body post mounts and body posts, makes it much simpler and then i can just use the mt2 dimples in the shell.

i decided to use grey instead of black because most of the stickers are black.
the grey is just primer but only got to the second coat, 2 maybe 3 coats left but need to get more paint first anyway here it is so far.
