Hey everyone I have an otherwise new 4 tec and I'm having trouble getting it to fire. I'm not new to rc and have had many models all nitro and a couple traxxas I still have my revo 3.3 that starts instantly. This one I got from a friend and it's only been broken in. It started for about 5 seconds in my kitchen and then shut off and I haven't been able to get it to fire since. I have deleted the blue glow wire and yellow ground and instead use a factory team rechargeable glow igniter with the proper plug -hot-. The plug is heating it's getting fuel and air but it cranks for a bit and then bogs down and the ez start stops and if you keep on the ez start button smoke will come out of the ez start motor. It's acting as if it's getting flooded which I have taken the plug out numerous times to remedy. But it just happens every time. The carb is set to factory I've checked that multiple times. The brake is not dragging.

Another thing that's strange is the wheels are spinning when the motor is cranking. Is that a sure sign of a bad clutch?? Thanks everyone

Yep, pull the engine remove the bell and have a look. The Spring is the most likely issue, but broken shoe(s) or bad bearings can also be the culprit.

Ok I'll definitely check that out. The car has no real time on it, but I know things can happen at any time. Another thing to mention I can spin everything fine by hand. It's only when I crank the motor that I notice everything "binding". Of the spring or clutch shoes were bad wouldn't I not be able to turn the bell by hand? That was my only doubt of that being the issue.

Ok I'm stuck with the traxxas dorections to get to the clutch they have step 3 as just taking the two trans gears off the shaft... But the chassis is curved every so slightly on the edge in a way that makes this impossible. Do I need to loosen something else to get those gears past the lip? There seems to be NO info on this car anywhere for my revo there are YouTube videos for everything it seems

The engine looks like a huge pain to get out. Me revo it's really easy on but the 4tex two of the four eng bolts are blocked by the fuel tank. Can you tell me how or maybe point me to a write up? Thank you

Don’t remove the engine from the mount, remove the engine with the mount attached. 4 screws on the bottom of the chassis plate.

The four screws that have the adjustment side to side? I thought about that it just looked like the plastic locked it in up top

Yep those 4 screw, you can wiggle the engine out from under the top brace then. You can also loosen a few of the top brace screws for extra clearance if needed.

Snook man you really are the man. Got the motor out and found this

:thumbs-up: I knew you could do it.

MIP clutch/springs tend to last longer the the stock one does.

Thanks again. I ran the 4 tec for the first time yesterday and man is this thing fast. Too fast lol and too much under steer but man it's fun
