I'm going to buy a ofna buggy that comes w/a starter box that takes 2- 7.2 sticks should I get the nimh or the nicd what is better. ????

NiMH is better. I'm assuming you don't have any other batteries right now, so the ones you get will be the only 2 you have, so if you're going out to get 2 new batteries get the NiMH's.
  • No discharging, just charge them right back up.
  • The hold a higher voltage longer (more power longer) where NiCd's peak after about 1 or 2 minutes the drop off untill they're dead.
They cost a little more upfront, but IMO they're more than worth it.

Man I didn't even think about a gel cell....that and the charger will cost you less that 2 decent stick packs.

The thing I really like about the 12v gel cell is how long they last. I charged mine twice last season on the overnight charger. Thats it.

A little bit heavier, but I honestly have seen a pair of stick packs deliver the power a 12v gel cell does for nearly as long.

Most people dont get them though because of the weight.

It's true that you can leave them with charge in them but not the best idea to start charging them from anywhere but a dead condition. You should discharge, let them cool then charge them fully when you are ready to use NiMH cells.

The biggest drawback of NiMH is you can not leave them at a fully discharged rate for any long periods of time. When storing NiMH you should have them charged up unlike Nicad you don't want them to have a charge when strored.
