Was just recently deciding between the HBX 2997a and the Omni Terminator. I don't think you can go wrong either way. I ended buying the Terminator carbon edition because it looks like it handles better than the HBX and I was able to pick one up for under $200 on an Amazon flash sale. I don't have much to compare it to but I've been super impressed with the speed, power, and handling of it. I'm grateful for it being just a mini 1/10 scale (1/12 really), as it's almost too big for bashing just out in front of our house. I found the Derby City Youtube comparison really helpful if you haven't seen it already.
I did end buying a 1/14 MT16 (ZD's version of the ROG1) as well due to poor impulse control and because the OT needs more space than my little front yard for tricks/flips off of our ramp. I haven't had a chance to run it yet as it's been too cold but I think the size is right in the sweet spot for the limited space I have. The OT is incredible when we take it down the street to a nearby construction site and the increased size makes it so much more capable - soaks up the bumps, jumps off the dirt and gravel piles like a champ, and just flies.
