Hey everyone,

I'm new to the hobby and just picked up a used truck by fate. I don't know much about the truck's past, but I had it tuned the other day and it guy at the hobby shop said it was in pretty good shape. I brought it home and I had to wait a couple days to run it. Ran good for a few minutes, then it started idling up and I had to used the brake constantly to make it stop. Since then I have adjusted the carb and probably messed up the settings.

It's a 2.5 tmaxx... and I have set the lsn at 1.5 turns which is about 1mm gap and the hsn at 4 turns... It will attempt to run, kinda firing, then eventually start and kick into gear.

So, here are a couple of questions that I have...

1. Can low batteries in the remote cause it to rev and kick in gear?

2. When trying to start the truck and I notice nitro coming out of the tail pipe is that a sign that I'm too rich and need to lean it out?

Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Batteries should not affect idle or engine speed. At most the truck would stop responding to throttle input changes from the radio. And yes excess fuel coming from the exhaust is usually a sign of running rich. If the engine is not already sealed, seal it and then tune. there is sticky in here explaining engin sealing. Also tune using a temp gun it is more accurate than any other means.

I've got the lsn at 1.75 and the hsn at 4, but I have no clue where to default the idle screw at...

Now, the one way bearing is messing up, so I got to pull the bearing out and try cleaning it with WD-40.

I really just want to be able to play with my t-maxx over thanksgiving, but it's not looking good. :(

still some issues

I idled it down, to what I consider a reasonable level, but now it's wanting to die when I give it some gas.

FYI that link with the chart is awesome!

Here is a video of what it is doing now.

The car is idling good, but after I hit the throttle a couple times and release it dies. I been playing with the needles all morning.
