RC Driving Style
Hi all, I haven't had my maxx running for about 2 months, and I was wondering is there anything you recommend I do/Check before I fire her up again.

Sorry if this has been answered before, I did try to search but found nothing.

you should make sure your air filter is clean/oiled . make sure the fuel line is conneted. umm make sure all the screws are in good,batteries in the electronics,grip on the wheels. that all i can think of at the time
 
put some after run oil in there to make sure its all lubed up if you havent already
 
I would go with a brand new Glow Plug. You wouldn't know how many times starting problems are due to a fouled plug.

I'm with X_Gamer, I would put some after-run oil down the carb and into the glow plug hole (I use Marvel Mystery oil), then rotate engine a number of times to make sure it is all lubed up prior to starting.
 
Where in the hell do you buy Marvel at? I've looked around and all I can find is the Marvel that you put in your gas tank for a 1:1 car to clean the injectors.
 
WD-40 is now my choice for after run. Spray it in the carb, you can flood it if you want, take out your glow plug, and spin the starter. WD stands for 'water displacement'. 40 is the 40th recipe they tried before they got successful. It was developed by NASA to keep moisture from condensing and freezing on rockets.
You can get it anywhere, including a grocery store auto section.

WD-40 is a great product and I use it all the time for cleaning RC vehicles and general spray-down or lubing. Personally, I think it is too light a viscosity to make a good after-run oil, but it probably works. I've got a couple of engines stored in plastic bags, where I've used the Marvel Mystery oil treatment on them. I gotta tell ya, I think those engines would last in those bags for a hundred years or more, problem is, I won't be here then. :2cents:

I've always loved the story about how they got the name for WD-40. They simply labeled each concoction during the experimental phase (like Rolex said), then they found one formula that worked pretty good, then they used the name right off of the test jug.
 
I would recommend:
1. Check for fully charged batteries or replace the old dry cells with new ones.
2. Check for tightness on all screws, nuts, and other fittings.
3. Make certain your air filter is clean and oiled.
4. Make certain your fuel filter is also clean and not clogged with any gelled fuel.
5. Check all electronic connections to make certain your radio gear is ready to go prior to starting the engine.

Aside fom the above, I can not think of much else off the top.
 
I use the WD for general after run oil, and the thick red after run oil for long term down time.
Speaking of WD-40, if you look on the can, you will not see a patent. If they put a patent on it, they have to list the exact recipe on the patent application. They don't want anyone to know what made it right, so there's no patent.
