Hi all, I recently purchased a T-maxx over here in the UK.

I am having trouble with the run in, basically, I can run a tank in as described in the manual, but after the cool down period I can not get the truck to start again.

I am a bit concerned the battery on my starter is crap so am just trying to recharge that, my main question though is this, whe I get this problem of it not starting there seems to be some fuel coming up where the glow plug screws in, is this normal ??

I have made sure the gasket is in place and the glow plug tightened correctly.

Can anyone set my mind at ease please.

Cheers All/

No, that's not normal...there should be nothing coming out of the glow plug hole. That hole should be sealed off once the plug and gasket are in there tight.
Make sure your glow plug is still ok.
Get your battery charged up and see if that'll do the trick.

Fuel does come out the glow plug hole while running. I've never noticed it while trying to start it.

One possibility is the brass or copper gasket you have for your glo-plug is upside down. Unfortunately, flipping it over now might now work. There is a natural 'bowl' like curve to those gaskets when you get them new. You always want the glowplug to sit in the bowl and have the bottom of that bown be what seats on the engine.

As for not starting after it heats up, well, that could be MANY of things.

Is it fully broken in? How many tanks through it?

thanks for the advice all.

It does seem that the gasket was upside down. Can anyone advise on the correct glow plug I need to buy as a spare for the t-maxx, I've seen so many different ones and I am getting confused.

I'm not familiar enough with a 2.5 mill to suggest a good plug.

Although I can suggest a couple of brands that I like;

O.S.
Fox
Durratrax Carbon Speed plugs

I've used the OS A3 and the OS #8 and haven't had any problems with them.

A few people (including me) will always change plugs after a break-in.

Another thing that you can do as long as you have the EZ-start is use a separate glow ignitor on the plug when starting. It's the opinion of many that the EZ-start doesn't heat the plug well enough for a good fire.

wdavidhicks gave a good piece of advice with useing the separate glow ignitor.

Other than the fuel spitting out the glow plug hole (that's bad), i had issues starting mine as well without the seperate ignitor. Once i used one of those, my starting problems quickly diminished. My keeping it running problems then came up. I won't get into that, i think i had a bumb engine.

Thats great advice, thxs too everyone for replying.

I am very new to this sport so I may be back to ask a few questions as time goes by.

Cheers All.

This is a good place for answers. I would suggest using the search function for the forums. You can find most anything with it.

What you can't find, you ask. If your in a bind, ask.
