Newb tire and wheel question!

ok i went to my LHS and bought a nice cew set of wheels (2.8) didnt pay attention to the wheel much , got home and noticed that my tires that i wanted to mount had a goove that set into the wheel where as the wheels that i got has just the oppasite they have a goove sticking out from the wheel. so my question is , do u have to buy certain tires for certain wheels, cause the tires that i want to mount are the deep v groove that i want, and i looked on tower hobbies and all the v groove tires have the lip that sets into the wheel.....

2.8 fit 2.8 5.07 or better knowen as 30 series wheels only fit 30 series tires same with 2.2 wheels fit 2.2 tires 40 series wheels fit 40 series tire and so on for the most part but sometimes the tire brand and wheel brand have to be the same like this TIRES-Skull and Bones for 2.8 Jato Wheels, Soft (2)

sounds like your trying to use traxxas wheels,you can only use traxxas tires on traxxas wheels.Most other tires and wheels are compatible as long as they are the same size.

I've used plenty of tires (IMEX, Pro-line) on my Traxxass wheels. Don't know where you got that info from.

There is no way regular tires fit on traxxas wheels!!the grooves will not match up!!Unless you dont know what your doing and glued them anyway

I've put all sorts of different tires on traxxas rims over the last ten years or better. Mostly proline tires, but they all fit just fine. I've put traxxas tires on hpi rims and that worked just fine too. All 2.2's. All fit right. Go do some home work.

As long as the tires and wheels are the same size, it doesn't matter wat the brand is.

Not saying you're wrong, but i know for a fact that they fit perfectly fine. Maybe the ones you tried were defective, but i've never had a problem with any same size tires going on traxxas wheels.

It would be obvious by looking at a tire/wheel combo as to what it would or would not fit. There would be a drastic difference in a tires bead or the seat on the rim from what most of us are used to seeing. Brand name means nothing.

look up pro-line they sell all sorts of tire just for traxxas wheel

imex wheel and a traxxas wheel both for the jato both 2.8 most and i mean like 99% of all 2.8 tires will fit traxxas wheels 99% of all 2.8 wheel are the same as traxxas wheels heres two pics to help you the split spoke traxxas wheel

If you buy rims and tires without knowing they are compatible, you deserve to be disappointed.
