RC Driving Style
Ok, so I have the OFNA Picco RTR and for the first tank of fuel I ran it at around 4.5 turns out. Kinda rich, nice amount of smoke and extra fuel/oil from the exhaust. It probably took close to 30 mins to run at idle with 1/4 throttle here and there. After running I cleaned her up and dropped a couple of drops of after run oil on the pistion and cycled the engine a few times.

Anyway, I tried to start her up yesterday and here is what happened. I primed the engine to the point that fuel was entering the carb. I tried to start the engine and it would not turn over. I checked the batteries in the igniter and they were fine. I thought it might have been flooded so I took out the glow plug and yanked the pull start a few times but nothing. The glow plug seemed wet, but it might have been a figment of my imagination. I tested the glow plug and it glowed bright red. Put the glow plug back in and it still would not start. I finally replaced the glow plug and after 3 or 4 times of trying to start her she finally turned over. She ran fine for two tanks.

My question is, do you think the glow plug was bad or did I just not prime it enough?

I'm guessing it just wasn't primed enough. I've read that flooded engines act like seized engines...is that true?

Another question: Do I need to put after run oil in after every run? Or only if I'm not going to run it for a few days?
 
I'm no expert so correct me if I'm wrong. But was it even firing? if not then id say it didnt have enough fuel
 
It isn't unusual to burn a glow plug up on the first tank. You will probably burn up a couple during the break-in. However, this didn't seem to be your issue--not enough fuel does.

Severely flooded engines usually hydro-lock and will not spin at all. In this case remove the glow plug and spin 'er over a few times.

As for the ARO--use it every time. Spin the motor over a couple times before to remove any un-burned fuel then add the oil and spin a couple times. Make sure you have your piston at BDC (bottom dead center) when you are done spinning it over. Have fun!

Thanks for the replies.

It was defintely flooded. It got to the point where it was hydro-locked. I took the glow plug out and turned it over, nitro even came out of the stinger :\ Anyway, I cycled the engine until no more fuel was exiting. I put the glow plug back in and it was still really tight so I loosened the plug and fired it up, took a few times but she finally ran. I tightened the glow plug back up and I'm now one tank closer to break-in. :D

Thanks for the advice. One thing about being a newb, I learn something new everyday.
