Well like all the stock wheel hubs for the savage, mine stripped out. Now I need to buy some new ones. I think the tires have good traction but the wheels is what's killing me.

I hate glueing tires. So i'd prefer to get wheel/tires that are preglued. Now what's a good wheel/tire combo that will fit the savage, not strip out, preglued, the same dimensions as the stock tires/wheels, and has killer traction for dirt.

I was maybe thinking of just buying the stock tires and then getting some good aftermarket wheels....decisions, decisions.

Not very sexy, but they sure do look functional. I may need to pick up a set when I destroy the stock rims and tires. Do they take the Big Joe 40 series?

I like the proline maxx mashers

Are they the same dimensions as the savage wheels/tires? I don't want the stance or anything to change.

oh btw, i've had the problem for the last week or so with the hub but haven't investigated until now. And since i'll be getting my hyper 8 this week I think it's time to buy some new wheels.

The Mashers are smaller in diameter than the stock wheels. If you get the ProLine Velocity Six rim as illustrated here, make sure you get the wide off set rim. It will widen the stance a little, and give you better stability in turns.

The diameter change is notice-able and will "slow" down the truck. What I mean is you will lose some of your top speed (even with the Hyper). Smaller wheels means less distance covered per rotation, and thus slower speed.

hmmm...i'm all confused...I think i'll goto the LHS and see what they got in stock.

If you want to see a comparison, I can take a picture of mine side by side. I have a set of Mashers on my T-Maxx. They are mounted on RPM Monster Claws, but the size difference between the stock Savage tires and the Mashers is easily noticed (and is independent of the rims they are mounted on.)

The stock Savage tires are narrower but taller (bigger diameter). The Mashers are wider and shorter (smaller diameter). The rims do not make much of a difference, unless you go for a wide-offset rim.

Now...the 40 series tires by ProLine are a different story all together. The 40 series tires are larger than the regular, and might actually come up to the same height as the stock Savage tires.

Well I bought some hot bodies wheels and some stock savage tires. I decided I didn't really wanna chance getting some different tires and making the traction worse since I know savage tires grip good. I still need to glue the tires and do some other stuff.

I received the hyper 8 today and ran one idle tank. I took me awhile to install the engine since i didn't know the layout of the savage. But it's all good. As soon as it was all put together I took it outside and ran it. Didn't even take a minute to look at it while it's still new.

Kwong, at least you didn't have to take the rubber off the old rims, I did and now my house smells like I've been doing doughnuts in the house with my 1:1 car. Think I'll go open a window.

Which HB rims did you get? I got the devastator rims. They look kind of weird though.

Happy to hear that you have gotten your tire problem solved. The engine will be a nice addition to your truck.

As for traction, the Mashers would have been just fine for traction. Yes, they are a bit soft, but they still grip quite well in almost all terrains (snow and ice seemed to be a little weak).

I'm thinking in getting the 40 Series Dirt Hawg with the Velocity Six wheels. would I need to upgrade my stock steering servo?
