So you guys i just seen this video of an mgt 8 and the transmission almost looks like ours besides the fact that the motor sits sideways...I'm pretty sure its a better tranny than the 3.3 tranny so let me know what you guys think wether its been done before or not...

I'd keep it simple. There's nothing wrong with Traxxas trannys. The 2.5 tranny holds up to big blocks decently. The 3.3 is even stronger.

The 2.5 tranny holds up to big blocks decently.

Not so sure I'd go as far as to say that MHM. I never had the 3.3 maxx/trans, so I can only speculate. I did have the 2.5 maxx and to handle BB power, I had to upgrade all gears I could to RRP steel to make it through a couple days of bashing.

Now with the revo, I still shelled out the top gear two speed gears repeatedly until I upgraded it to RRP steel. All the other gears are plastic still and I'm running an FOC. Seems to hold up ok now.

In both cases, I'm talking about running a big block.

With the original 2.5, 2.5R and a OS18TM, the revo trans held up fine (with a FOC) though.

I'm not saying that it warrants trying to fit in a MGT trans by any means. A few of the primary gears converted to steel makes it a very tough transmission though. ;)

What pins? I never had issues with the t-maxx, but there were 2 gears still plastic because noone made anything else at the time. The large two speed spurs.

Mainly in the black tranny, with a massive powerplant. People would get steel gears then start snapping pins because the gears were no longer the weak point.
