Hi everyone. I have been reading posts on the site for about a month now, and finally just joined.

I am saving money up for a new t-maxx... still a long way away:(

Anyhow, time for the questions.

I think the first thing i will do to it is new suspension( other than a fuel filter and air filter). I was wondering if Big Bore shocks with Trinity blue springs and 50wt. oil would be good. I will just have some fun at the neighborhood park for a while to get used to it. No jumps or bashing...yet.
:devious:

Also, does anyone know a good site where i can get the BB's and trinity blue springs for cheap? I'm a little stripped for cash... actually really stripped for cash.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanx in advance.

Get the fuel filter and air filter and have fun! Dont go dropping the cash on parts like shocks if you are strapped for loot. Instead, drive it, enjoy it and replace the first set of parts you break. I'm going to guess it will be a spur gear and possibly an A-Arm and turnbuckle......

You may also want to spend the money on some decent tools. Anyone will tell you, GOOD tools in this hobby will go a long way AND save you money/time in the long haul. #1 and #2 metric philips or non metrics if you can't find the other. WFC makes GREAT screwdrivers. A damn good set of hex drivers. There are MANY good companies out there making them. OFNA was my first set and a good bang for the buck, plus, guarenteed forever. I now mostly use my Losi hexes but it tight spots they are not long enough (cough cough)

Enjoy it!

Welcome to the site and the hobby!

Many people here have tried and liked the Big Bores. Your 50wt and blue springs would be a good combo for all around use. If you feel that all 8 blue springs are too stiff, try 4 blue and 4 red and see how you like that.
Normally you can find a set of Big Bore shocks for around $75, and me personally I haven't see any cheaper than that.

Thanx for the welcome.

Around Christmas time i wont be so stripped for cash...hopefully. Knowing me, i'll probably break something during the break in. So that will probably be the first thing i buy for it. i meant that the suspension would be the first accessory. The filters will be in before i ever start the motor. If i happen to have the money, i'll buy the suspension stuff.

I am also thinking about slowly upgrading everything i can to RPM parts. I like the lifetime replacement thing. How does that sound?

Thanx for the help!

StormerHobbies has the Traxxas Big Bores for $63.95....BigBore Shock Set
But, like Christian says, have a little fun with it first. Learn how everything works & drive it till something breaks...

I own only a T-Maxx. I bought it based on light research and opinions from local LHS's. If you think you'd like to develop plans on an ultimate upgrade you might consider the HPI Savage also.

Whatever you do:

Failsafe or throttle return spring or both.
Motor-Saver air filter.
Fuel filter. (or two filters! Put one in the pressure line as well, they're cheap.)

Çh®i§tiªñ is right about tools. It's a PITA to twirl screws with an L-wrench. I have ball hex-drivers but I don't break or cinch with them. I swap from an L-wrench after the break and swap to an L-wrench before the cinch.

RPM kicks ass.

That's right! almost forgot about the failsafe and return spring. Those will definitely be on the truck before any hop-ups. The two filters will be on before the break in. I will invest in some good tools, too. I'm not really looking to build the "ultimate truck", just enough so that i can bash the crap out of it and not have to worry too much.

Once I get used to everything the hobby has to offer, i am thinking about putting one of those tiny, wireless cameras on it. Sounds like it would be pretty fun. Heck, depending on how that goes, I might try to make a couple videos. My little brother is hoping for an E-Maxx for Christmas. He wants a T-Maxx, but i told him that it was way too difficult for a 5 year old to handle. Plus i told him that he would have to clean it all the time and he changed his mind...lol. But anyway, me and him might be able to make a few vids with the camera. Just a thought, though. May never happen.

Does anyone know where i can get the trinity blue's?

Thanx!

How does this look for some hex drivers? (copy and paste)

How do you do the links? no clue.

You'll never use the wrenches above 2.5mm except for the steering knuckle ball stud caps that are 5mm. I have sitting out available at all times: 1.5mm (for the really small set screws) plus 2.0mm and 2.5mm which cover about everything else.

your links work great just typing the URL's

hey about the springs, they are a good thing to get just maybe not right away. i have the 8 trinity blue springs but i am going to go and buy 4 heavy heavy heavy black ones too. i like to do a lot of bashing and high jumps so i need a little bit stiffer suspension.

i dont know if they will work or not. they look like they are the same thing that i have so i think.

2 oz of fluid will fill up about 16 shocks. Normally I go through half a bottle when I rebuild my shocks, and that's with me overfilling and not being very neat.
My computer blows so the link above isn't working for me, so sorry I have no input on that.
