Hi,
I have had a 8.5 turn brushless rustler for about 4 months, and I am looking into nitros, and i was looking at the hpi MT2. I was wondering if this was a good car to start out with, and if it is a just a good car. Also, my friend has a tmaxx 2.5R, and i was wondering if the MT2 could beat it in a drag race.
Thanks for any help!

The HPI MT2 should be a pretty good starting truck. The parts availlabilty is fairly good. However, I would suggest checking your LHS for what is the most popular (I would hazard a guess at a Savage).

In fact, You may want to look into getting a savage. Not only will it walk all over the maxx, it'll also outlast it in durability. I've had both a maxx, and a savage (currently have the savage), and of the two, the savage has my pick every time.

Well, I am wanting to get a stadium truck. But, what about the jato 2.5, would that be more durable, or which car would be your choice the mt2 or the jato?

The MT2 is 4wd where the Jato is 2wd. The Jato is faster and has a class to race in at the track where the MT2 doesn't. The MT will be easier to learn to control (that's just my opinion) where the Jato you will really need to concetrate on throtle control. If you can learn throtle control you have the biggest part of driving licked. I have an MT2 and have no complaits other than I have to order parts on line because my LHS only carries Savage. I would recommend the MT2 if you don't mind having to order the parts, thankfully its a tough little truck. Hope I didn't confuse you too much.

Thanks! I don't mind ordering parts online. By any chance do you know the top speed of the mt2, b/c i thought it was fourty but I'm not sure

Handling is what ya should question. Not to be a jerk or anything, but speed should come 2nd behind handling. Noobs to the scene usually always worry about handling and will get something fast that handles like a brick, and end up crashing it, or thinking it sucks. Ya get the handling down, then the speed will come. Welcome to the boards!

The Jato 3.3 is retarded fast!
If speed is your only concern, get the Jato 3.3
There claim is 65 mph+.
I dont know if it's true, but thats their claim.

Well my friend has a tmaxx 2.5R and i would like the car i get to be able to keep up with or beat him in a drag race. Any suggestions?

And, if I get a car that only goes 25 then it wouldnt really be a step up from the 8.5 turn brushless rustler i have would it? I'm pretty good at handling, so now I'm basically looking for a step up in speed and power.

A stock RTR MT2 won't beat a 2.5R in a drag race, the track is a different story depending on the driver. How about a savage x, have you looked into any monster trucks?

Read this again.
It will beat a tmax for sure.

2.5 tmaxx is supposed to go about 40 mph.

I have looked into the savage and i think I'm going to get one. I changed my mind, i want a monster truck. Thanks for all the help
