Hi everyone,

I'm new to rc nitro and always wanted a car/buggy so I treat myself to a cheapy yesterday and bought a Thunder Tiger Tomahawk BX to have some fun with.

I got it running yesterday and it certainly is a lot of fun! Problem is, I ran it for a while and all was well, but now when I turn on the controller and then the receiver on the car, the throttle servo moves to fully open straight away and opens the carb the whole way. The steering servo is fine and when I pull back on the throttle stick the brakes function as they should, but pushing the stick forward and back a few times trying the make the throttle close, nothing happens!

Is there anything that I can do to sort it or should I take it back the shop where I bought it??

Thanks in advance,
John

The brake and throttle should be operated by the same servo, when you pull back on the stick to make the brakes work the carb should close. If it's not closing when you apply the brakes you should check the servo gear and horn, they might be stripped or cracked, also check the linkage for the throttle and brake. If all of those look good the servo has most likely gone bad. I would go back to where you bought it, Thunder Tiger might warranty it.

I just looked at some pics of that buggy, it has a metal clamp on the servo horn that serves as a spring, if that clamp is missing it can be the cause of your problem.

Bad servo and cheap radio gear. Sorry bud, these are common issues with cheapies. If you plan to stay in r/c buy a decent radio with epa adjustments and learn to use them. Otherwise you will constantly fry servos.
