I just bought a used t-maxx 2.5 off of a buddy that needed a new engine. I replaced the engine with a 2.5r. Well when I started it up to do the break in process something is not looking right. When you give it gas to go the spur gear spins but it takes about 2 to 3 seconds for it to actually start going and when it does it snatches into gear. Just wonderings if any of you guys know why this is happening. This is my first nitro rc ever and I am dying to get to drive it. thanks alot.

yes its tight but if it was too loose wouldnt it just spin the spur gear all the time and not catch afer a couple of seconds?

The t-maxx does that in it's stock form. At least the 2.5 one did. It's because of an extra clutch setup inside the trans that allows the truck to have forward/reverse. It lurches as you apply throttle. Eventually at a certain RPM, it goes into gear and stays in gear until you slow down again.

I didn't care for the lurching and rarely did I use reverse. So I installed a FOC (forward only conversion) which removes the parts that make it lurch off the line.

Yeah. Mine is still stock and has that same problem. Engine is tuned excellent and the slipper is set 1/8 turn from tight. I only have that problem for the first couple minutes of messing around with it, then the problem is less prevalent.

Mine does the same exact thing but you will know when its to lose because it will take off but if wont get going fast enough to shift into second gear so I tightend mine and it works perfect, also check the friction pegs they could be worn out about 6$ for 12 at my hobby store.
