Hi I'm new to the hobby. I am looking at buying a cheap car but decent starting point. Something I'll be able to eventually modify. Does anyone know of any?

On road off road car or truck what are you looking for usally you get something cheap it limits your ability to upgrade later.Give us an idea what direction you would like to head to then it will be easier to help you.:D

Either a touring car or something like a baja truck. Not really looking to race it just want to go out and have fun and have something to tinker with.

I have a touring car at home that i bought about 5 years ago and its been sitting since in pieces. I'm just trying to figure out if its cheaper to buy a new one or fix that one.

Take a look at hpi,or associated. Try tower hobbies,or a main hobbies get an idea on some prices.:D

I don't know what car I. I'm stationed in NC and the car is in NY. I'll find out this weekend what it is.

If it's something parts are readily avalible for it. It may be worth rebuilding break out the calculator. ;)

rs4 is a good on road to start with, and very upgradeable.....but you may have to use ebay, last i checked hpi is discontinuing the carbon hop ups.....not sure why.....

i really like hpi and would love to see a race spec nitro on road from them....besides just the club level rs4s.....but they are VERY tough and dependable cars

How do I know which RS4 I have and how do I know what engine I have?

engine size is usually on the side.....the earliest rs4s were belt drive...the newer ones are shaft, and have been pretty much the same since they lost the belts i think, until the newest one...but the only difference now is a larger engine I'm pretty sure......your engine is probably a .15 "nitro star"

Not to spam my own sale but I have a really badass HPI RS4 3 EVO Stage D drift/touring car that is heavily modified that only needs an engine and tx/rx system. Let me know :D
