Well, since Tower fubar-ed my order for the MBX buggy and told me that they are now on back order, I got a credit and went down to my lhs this afternoon.

As soon as I walked in the door I noticed a new box on the shelf. Small place its easy to notice new stuff. Hmmm the cardboard seems to be wrapped around some sort of material. Maybe a new Hpi micro....nope...Ofna.

So I start thinking as I'm walking up to the counter the only new Ofna that was due out is the LD3. LD3?!?!?!?! 8-0 Hes got an LD3. (The LD3 came in second to the TC3 that was part of the never ending Road car/Buggy debate going on inside my head for the last 2 months)

Trying not to seem excited I made some small talk and asked if they had anything new in stock. The owner immediatly came over with the LD3 started taking it out of the box and whispered, "gallon of trinity 20%, 2 glow plugs, d-cell glow starter, I'll throw in some AA batteries and a failsafe , single speed but yours for $280 NO TAX!!"

I asked if he was f-in with me. He told me he just got them in...sweet promotional deal cause he sold a crap load a Ofna product recently. I Opened up the box and it looked almost EXACTLY like a TC3. I Mean if it werent for the exhaust I would have mistaken it for one.

So anyway, I'll be breaking it in tomorrow or Monday depending. Buddy of mine has been talking alot of crap about his RS4 Super Nitro so hopefully I'll be able to shut him up now.

:w00t:

SWeet let us know how you like it i have seen 2 recently and they look very nice

Nice...but my ntc3 will still own it. It owns all

That's gay that it looks like a tc3 though. I don't like it when two cars from different manufacturers have almost identical looking cars. It's as if one is steeling the design of the other

Hey, very nice car. I want to get one of those as well. That looks like a fast, and well handling car. I like the low CG on that car. I wish it came with a rear exhaust engine though. I also saw this car the other day at my LHS, and I decided that that was the new race car I was going to get.
Good luck with it, and have fun.
Let us/ or me know how it runs.
Thanks
Peter

keep us posted on how that thing runs. The more informed we are...the better decision we can make when our wives let us get a new touring car this spring/summer

Awwwwwww man! No buggy?!?!?! Well start saving again! lol

Congrats on the new ride! Get some vids up! Lets see this thing FLY! Its fast!

Well I started breaking it in last night. Adjusted the needle to 4 turns out from close. Let 2 full tanks of trinity 20% run through it at idle. Then let it cool.

Adjusted my throttle trim not to allow me to get past 1/4 throttle (I didnt trust myself not to open her up :hehe: ) and started running it around my bulding parking lot. Even though it was moving slow as hell there was a good stream of smoke comming out the exhaust and a few drops of unburnt fuel every few feet. After about 5 min it stalled. I started it right back up again ran for about 10 min this time and died again.

No matter what i did I could not get the thing re-started. I thought that maybe it just loaded up. SO....I took out the glow plug, tested it just to make sure, turned the car upside down and pulled on the pull cord a few times.

This time when I try to start is it was very hard to pull. So I tried turning it upside down again. Put everything back together...still hard but now theres a "ting ting ting" sound as I pull the cord.... WTF!!!!

SO its back to the lhs to see if a really fubared something.

Questions....
1) Should the tip of the coil inside the glow plug be loose? I Mean centered in the plug, free of all attachments, and not touching the side of the plug. Mine seemed embedded into the outside ring. I didnt have another one to compare with last night.

2) As I accellerate I noticed bubbles forming in the gas tank. Air in the fuel line I know is not a good thing. So should I be seeing bubbles? There seems to be a return line comming from the exhaust pipe back to the fuel tank. I'm assuming to create positive pressure to feed fuel to the engine..right?

3) A "ting ting ting" sound should NOT be heard when trying to start your engine correct??

Oh...btw.... I WILL have a kickass buggy soon enough. I just thought the LD3 was a good deal and figured I'd jump on it.

1. They should be centerred, however, connect it to the glo ignitor and see how bright and fiery it is burning. Good glo is what you are looking for. Cracked coils = bad plug.

2. If you are getting foaming bubbles you can try the armor all trick. Some people dont like it, but the Parts Per Million is miniscule. On a fresh gallon, use original formula armor all ONLY, pump ONE spritz into the fuel. Shake it well and your foaming should go away.

3. NO! Ting Ting Ting is a bad thing. 1 of 2 things could be the reason. You are either running the wrong plug or the piston/sleeve/rod is shot. Sometimes a rod will 'stretch' causing the piston to bang into the plug. How many tanks have you ran through it? What mill?

Yup glow plug glowed bright red. Using 2 washers that it came with. LHS suggested running only 1 once it was broken in.

Hmmm...armorall..never heard of that I'll try it if I can get it running again.

Its the Ofna .12 red head. I doubt I could have stretched the rod. I dont have a temp gun but I had no problem picking out the glow plug with my fingers after it died so it wasn't too hot. And I didnt even have the throttle 1/2 open to get the revs up. I could jog faster than the car was running.
