I can't be the only one who has thought of this but here goes.
Very soft rubber compound tires with aggressive tread. The twist is instead of foam there is an inner tube that you pump up with air (nitrogen if you want minimal temperature effects). I think this would be really cool. Easily adjustable handling characteristics through tire pressure changes. Is anything like this available anywhere?
Also, does anyone have any of the T/E Maxx Jumbomaxx Claw Dawg Tires (http://imex.clodparts.com/catalogmaxxtires.html). They look like they are pretty nice tires but I can't tell from the photo what the profile is like (low or high)?
 
About a million years ago when I was first getting into RC, I had an off-road with pneumatic tires. They were sealed to the wheels and had a big knob tread. To adjust them, you took a bulb with a needle and pushed it through one of the blocks and pumped up the tire. When you pulled the needle, the tire would seal. Neat system. But frankly it was like driving on balloons. The buggy bounced like mad. Any time you hit a bump there was just rediculous rebound. I'm sure part of it was the infantile suspension, but the air in the tires really did make them really springy and frankly took away from performance. Perhaps they could do a better job with today's technology, but my experience 20 years ago sucked...
 
The beadlock wheels and Nitro Quake tire combo on my Savage appear to hold air. I was unable to fit the wheels with internal foams so I left the wheels undrilled and thus when bolted together they seem to have sealed the tires. I had it out today a little and it does act a little on the radical side when hitting bumps and stones but considering how hard these tire are, it handles pretty well. I'm not a speed freak so controll is not at issue with me. I'd have bought other tires if I'd known thesewere this hard. The still unavailable Imex Kong tires might be cool, 8 1/2 inches in diameter. Now that's a tire!
 
Woodie and I were just talking about the beadlocks and how they hold air. I waited until after mine were mounted and locked, then, drilled on through with a 90 degree dremel attachment. Worked out well!

I dont want mine to hold air either. Reminds me too much of the Canadian Ballet!
 
What tires are you using with the beadlocks? Did you get the optional rings for the Proline tires? I like some of the Imex tires but they say that you need their wheels to fit.

All would seem good until one went flat.
I for one don’t see how the advantage of being able to regulate the pressure would out weigh the disadvantage of getting a flat.

If you need to stiffen or loosen the way tires perform, use different foam.
 
And I would think a typical tire under these conditions would balloon like crazy at speed. That would do all sorts of stuff to handling. Still think foam is the way to go.
 
I have the Jumbo Swamp Dawgs on my Savage and I must say that they're a little too much tire for my savage and I will probably change them in favor of a regular swamp dawg. I also have the J Dawg on my t-maxx and I really like the combination for traction and wearability of the tire. Maybe I'll get a set of those for my savage instead.
