I've been in this for about a year, but I haven't touched an on-road until now. I just bought a new RS3 RTR3 Evo and haven't even broken it in yet. I have a few questions.

1. What can I put on the bottom of the chassis, so that it won't get all scratched up.

2. Is there anything on this thing that I should change right off the bat? i already changed the radio to an Aggressor SRX FM and installed an RX pack and Failsafe.

if it has the .15fe motor in it, Id toss that f**ker right out the window..lol..I had more problems with that mill. (I guess if ya get a Os 10E carb on them, they run alot better, but I couldnt find one for the life of me). I guess I'm a little short fused when it comes to them mills. poop made me almost wanna quit nitro. (Almost)

Well, I'll try it out, and if it doesn't run well I'll buy another O.S. .18 CVRX.

man I'm with you all the way. i left the hobby for almost 2 years because of that mill. I'm glad i swapped it out.

The T-15 is a much better mill than the .15 FE. The .15 FE was a very reliable engine once you swapped the carb with an OS 10e, but with the stock carb they would not run right no matter what. The one needle carb on that mill is a total piece of crap! My .15 FE will still fire up in less than three pulls every time. It's no powerhouse mind you but very very reliable. I recently put a .15 cvx hyper in mine and it screams, but I'd like to put a .18 OS in it next. I also added a carbon fiber upper deck to mine, and sway bar kit and that helped the handling tremendously.

As far as scratching the chassis about the only thing you can do is cover the bottom of the chassis with that self adhesive clear lamanating plastic, that will help prevent some scrathes, no way are you gonna stop them all.

Actually, If you just buy a clear sheet of lexan and either glue it and drill holes for screws or use thin velcro to attack it, you can prevent almost anything. Just trim it to size.

clear packing tape is the best because you can just remove it and add a new peice if you have to change screws and muliple layers can be added depending on what you plan on how much bashing you intend to do

Team Associated sells a clear protective plastic for the off road rc's to keep the bottom scratch free.
It might work for you as well.
I'll look for it at Tower.
BRB....

I have good news, bad news, and kinda good news.

The good news is that I found it. It's called Team associated chassis protective sheets, part number 6312.

The bad news is that they discontinued it.

The kind of good news is that you can still get it if a hobby shop still has it in stock.
A quick google search will help you.

Hi there,

Here's a couple of things to look into:

1. Sooner or later the primer on the tank is going to go, swap it for the old primerless tank from the racer2

2. Get a better air filter (no real reason i guess...i just didn't like the stock one)

3. Look into the HPI racing clutch...less of a PITA to deal with and can be adjusted

4. Turbuckles...not really a MUST-HAVE right now..but eventually you'll get bored and want to try out difffernt setups (plus, they're stronger than the stock plastic things on there).

5. throttle return spring (if i remember correctly, the engine on there has a rotary carb...failsafes only work when the battery is connected:opps: )

..this should keep you going good for a nice while...then when you're ready to upgrade the performance you can do something like this:

anywhoo, good luck with your ride:wasted:

I know this is an old thread, and sorry for digging it up. I just had to comment on what a nice lookin ride youve got there NSANTANA! One quick question, What are you using under your chassie? Is it lexan just painted black? By the way check my gallery for pix of my RS4 3ss.

if you are going to ressurect a thread - this one is a good one to bring back. I believe he has that car just sitting on a box... or pad. note the shadow under the tires?
