Hi I'm getting a new 1/10 scale 4wd Smartech nissan skyline .15CX nitro car on wednesday and it only goes about 45 mph. I was wondering what qiuk and easy steps there are to boost speed to 50 mph and above. Plus how are hobby shops that specailize in nitro cars at breaking in.? Thanks.
Here are the features:1. Front and rear bearing differentials.
2. 4 wheel-drive system. PS_ I already ordered the smartech BUT IT WILL TAKE HPI PARTS..
3. No-flex chassis design for better performance.
4. Alloy aluminum upper plate and chassis.
5. Oil-Filled shock absorber.
6. Disc-shaped brake system.
7. Front universal joint shaft.
8. 80cc fuel pressure tank.
9. High impact wheels.
10. High-Traction High-Performance radial-rubber tires.
11. Servo saver linkage system.
12. Stock engine muffler system.

Break in is the MOST important thing you can do to a nitro engine! Nothing can be said to stress that enough! I don't have any onroad cars so I can't comment on bringing up the speed, my guess would be to change the spur gear or the clutchbell but I'm not sure.

make sure you BREAK your engine in properly for long engine life and fewer headaches. Take your time because it will be worth it in the long run.

Dude, no matter what you do, do not get a smartec. Smartecs are the ABLSOLUTE BIGGEST PIECES OF poop IN THE WORLD. Just ask yourself, "Where the fiddlesticks am I gonna get parts for that bitch"?

^^^ what he said go with the 3 biggest companies HPI AE or Traxxas (even tho traxxas still sucks atleast you can get parts. Tip never listen to those idiots on the traxxas help line there useless then you should be ok)

I'm with the guys on this one. What you need to do is go down to your LHS and see what brands they carry. I would say get an AE, or HPI. Lots of parts an stuff to upgrade.

You are fairly new to this hobby, correct? Don't worry about speed. Worry about being able to learn and controll your new car. 45 MPH is pretty fast as it is. Just concentrate on honing your driving skills because top speed doesn't mean a thing if you can't control the car.
