I have a t maxx pro .15 and I want to upgrade to a bigger motor. Anyone have any suggestionson what motor I should get?

I would suggest looking into a newer truck. You've had your fun, time to upgrade.

A used tmaxx 2.5 can be had in the $100 range, its a bigger better truck, and all the modern parts ( including bigger engines ) will fit on it.

Well I dont want a new truck I would like a new motor because everything is basically brand new. This is my baby and I dont want to just sell it or put it off to the side. I want to upgrade it and make it better.

You can buy a conversion for it...... to make the 2.5 or 3.3 fit....... engine + conversion = more than a used better truck.

Try doing a search for .15 conversion. I am sure you will find what U are looking for.

Your gonna start to break stuff with a more powerfull engine though.

money isn't a worry and not worried about breaking stuff either. Just gives me a reason to upgrade

LOL all the more reason to UPGRADE your truck. Then ya have 2 for when your friends come over to play.

The problem is that the .15 really isnt really "upgadable" its MODIFYABLE at greater cost to accept standard parts from newer trucks.

There used to be upgrade parts for it... and maybee you can still find em if ya hunt...but its obsolete.

I am building one myself so trust me .....

Wont all the parts off a T maxx classic fit on it? I ordered my shock tower and suspension arms for a T maxx classic because it is the same exact chasis

Its gona be like building a new truck your gona need stronger diff, different clutch, stronger axles. Go with a .18with out severe mods or stick a .21 in it get very creative and ready to spend some$.If you have to ask someone else how to do this buil you should not attempt it.You can do yours wiyh most off the shelf parts figuring out what works and what dosen't is the hardest thing to do.Years ago for shits and giggels i stuffed a .61 in a 1/8 scale road car and i would have been screw if i wasn't a machinist i had to make many custom parts for example flywheel clutchbell and cluctch shoes etc. See what I'm saying so put a lot of thought into it first before you even start. Research parts fit log every thing you use because somewhere along the line your gona be replacing things.Good luck with your project lets see it when your done.(This would have been a better project for the winter):D

can't I put a trx 3.3 in it?

You can put whatever ya want in it....... but it aint gonna fit without modification. Then all your axles, driveshafts, diferentials and transmision are gonna explode.

Your really doing this the hard way.

Notice the steel axles in mine?

os.12cvx would be what I would put on it. It's a smaller motor, from my experience it made the same power if not more than the trx. It's also a very dependable engine.

Well I was looking at some .21 and .28 motors. Would those make it faster without tearing up the diffs?

what i did

I know you said that money is not a concern but I had the same problem with my 1.5. Instead of dumping money and time into my 1.5 I just installed an OS 18cvrx and I could not be happier. What did I do with the money and time I saved? I invested in a savage XL and an MGT 8.0. Money well spent:D. Now I have a small block monster truck and big block monster trucks.

That's what I purchased. Just make sure you get a good exhaust gasket. Associated makes a good one.

The OS you are looking at would be a good bet. A .21-.28 are bigblock engines for the most part and will not fit unless you buy the extended chassis that is made for the mod. You will for sure grenade the entire drive line that way unless it is all upgraded. That OS CV-Rx is a great little engine.
