That sure was fast. You must have never left the work bench. I'm that way as well. Once you get into it, its hard to put it down.

Now take it apart and put it back into the box so you have something to do next weekend. :D

I'm that way too, I stayed up till like 3 am working on my savage.

I was thinking that that was the HPI high performance filter, I just didn't know if they inclueded in their kit. They put a high performance one in the Savage SS 4.6 so I thought they may have in the .18SS kit, guess not. Thanks for the info.

It took me about 12 hours. I did 6 hours on Saturday and another 6 today. The wife had a bunch of chores to do so I had a lot of free time.

This car is sure a lot different than my Savage SS. It is much smaller and it feels like it weighs less than half of what the Savage weighs. Every part is about half the size as the equivalent part on the Savage. I am using the same Futaba 3PM radio I use with the Savage. I just bought a new receiver, servos, switch, and battery pack.

I took detailed pics of the entire build. I will post them on a web page when I get a chance. Here is one taken while sealing the back plate:

Is that the body the car came with? I thought the .18SS kits came with a Lambo Gallardo or a Ford GT?

Looks good :)

The kit came with a Ford GT body. I am paint up the Ford GT in Racing Red, a C5 in Bright Red, a C6 (maybe yellow), and this Viper. The Viper is going to be my parking lot basher. The C5 will be my race track body. The Ford GT and the C6 will be show bodies.

What battery pack did you pick up for yours, where and how did you mount it? I just bought a couple of weeks ago the last RS4-3 SS12 kit my LHS had and mine is all together but I need to get a batt pack. All my rigs have rechargeable packs so I want the same for this car.

Unfortunately mine came with the Firebird body (YYYYyyyyyucckkkkk!) so that will need to be changed soon. Most likely I will get the Ford GT.

The stock radio tray takes the normal 4-cell AA alkaline dry-cell battery holder or a 5-cell hump pack. If you install the Woven Graphite upper deck you use a 5-cell flat pack. I am going with the Woven Graphite deck and a flat pack. The problem is NOBODY has the deck in stock and HPI is back ordered on it. So for now I am using rechargable 2300 NiMh "AA" batts in a standard 4-cell "AA" dry cell holder that came with my radio. I will replace that with the 5-cell flat pack when I get the deck.

I have the Ford GT body, Viper GTS body, and a Corvette C5 body. If you don't want that Firebird body please sent it my way. I'll take it and paint it up. :)

Thanks for the info. I bought a flat pack and haven't had time to try it. Now I know. Guess I will go get a hump pack for the time being until HPI makes up more woven decks.

The body, I'll think about it. Maybe we can work something out.
