Well while you are always contraversial I don't know that I would agree that a ported TRX is a good as a OS CV-RX I mean we are talking about the whole picture here and OS engines almost tune themselves. They have the best carbs bar none.

Anyway that said I need some clarification.

1st who do you use now for your porting and who do you recommned this bill dude or jesse

Second explain this contradictory statement please

Another notable part of Bill's porting service is his overall customer service focus. He actually fires the engines up, breaks them in and tests them for performance - he NEVER wants to ship out a less than satisfactory product to his customers.

How can he fire up the engine if you dont send him the bearings???? X

Well I just hate the trx pro 15. and it was starting to lose its compression. so I was out looking for a mill. and thats when I came across the cv-rx 15. and I heard a lot from them, like what you said x, that they preety much tune themselves. and what I was really looking for was instant drop in. not cutting crank and stuff like that.

Oh GREAT! I'M CONTOVERSIAL now!

X - I don't think it's contradictory...read it with common sense, obviously - if you didn't send the bearings, there will be no "testing". Unless you have him put in some spare bearings, run the thing, remove the bearings and send it back to you...

O.S. Engines are good...but I'm dead solid convinced that the Ported mill Bill had me test was stronger than the CV-RX.

I'd definitely reccomend Bill Hoskinson...send him an e-mail, chat with him on the phone. You'll be IMPRESSED with his technique, knowledge, etc.

Hey, thanks for the plug Keith. I haven't been on the Nitro forums for a while. Ever since the new T Maxx came out with the new engine, I haven't had much work comming in for engine porting.

Guys, I can promise you, there is no engine that "tunes itself". The OS engines are quality engines, but they are expensive to buy, and maintain.

IMO, the biggest reason the Traxxas .15 wears out pistons and sleeves so fast, is because they do not make alot of power in stock form. This leads to people running them lean to get descent power out of them.

I can tell you this. A properly ported TRX 15 engine, with a big tube header, and an AE pipe is the best over all engine I have ever found to run in a T Maxx. Properly tuned, and running on a quality fuel, with the propper oil content, they will take some SEVERE abuse, and make really really good power.

They will make AWESOME power when PROPERLY ported, and with the correct header and pipe, and the parts for them are everywhere and CHEAP.

The engine Keith tested for me didn't even have a big tube header on it, or an AE pipe. I sent him a ported stock header, and a reworked stock plastic T Maxx pipe.

Everyone has thier own opinion. Good luck with your truck, just try to have fun and learn from your mistakes.

Mike if your going to spend the kind of money it takes to get a CVRX, take some time and check out all the .15s out there. I like the Fantom Fr.15 with a slide carb. Check out nitroeview.com.

I had heard about the fr 15's w/rotery carb but i don't know if the stock header would work.

The stock header is what I use on my Fantom. If you take the extra five minutes to port match the header to the exhaust port on the Fantom, it will run even better.

I know, but I am afraid to cut the crank. because I don't whant to cut it too short

Cutting the crank is easy with the right tools. Just cut it long and trim it to size.

It is a very easy process, all you are doing is cutting a bolt, just take your time and make sure you have a nut threaded on, so when your done, you can back it off and straighten out the cut.
It also would help to take a piece of sand paper to it, just to clean it up.;)

thanks:D but i got another ? can it also go on the stock engine mount?

Alomost any of the .15 should go on the stock mount. The fanton and the OS motors drop in with no issues. When I ran that choad mach 15 on mine I had to grind on the inside of the mount a bit but thats the only time I head of an issue fitting a SB into a Maxx Motor Mount. X

The verdict is still out on my fantom at the moment. I have had some issues but I dont want to give an opion just yet. Maybe in another week or two I got a new seal kit coming for it so I will see how it runs after I reseal it. Also if you do get a fantom make sure you get one with the new carb on it. The old one SUCKS. X
