Looking at the lrp .28 or os .39vg. What do you think I don't want to go crazy $$$ any other recommendations ?

No question between those 2 in my mind. The O.S. 30 is way over rated, the lrp is the better choice.

If you wanted to spend a little more I would recommend the Nova Plus .28 7T for the best performer of the stock BB engines.

I've not driven an LRP but have heard only good things. However, I don't have any complaints about the 4.6 other than the OWB. If I were to get another engine for it, I doubt I'd change--it's plenty fast and has enough torque--for what I do with it, at least.

The f4.6 is a real good engine. It's easy to tune and has good power. I haven't ran the lrp either but people do talk highly of it. I think the lrp .28 and Losi 454 are the same. Not totally sure about that tho.

Yes they are the same. The HPI 4.1 and 4.6 are great engine's. I have had several rigs running the HPI engine and have never had any trouble with them. I have also owned several other BB mills and none I have had compares to the power and ease of tuning as my LRP.30. Fuel consumption is better then either of my AE .28 and those engines always seem to be thirsty mills. Out of all the engines I have ran I would say the LRP has the most power from any of them. If I were to go any other route it would be a Nova.

So been talking with my hobby shop guy he is recommending the is .30vg es he says that it is a lot easier to tune ane to keep tuned.

Has he had experience with both engines? I'd go with the LRP, as SnookMan stated, it's a better engine and has a better price.
