Just built my second tmaxx from parts off of ebay and friends. Going to build one now that has all upgrades. Should take me some time though. Just trying to get a idle of what engine should I get. Both my trucks have the .15 pro, so I am ready for some power in this new truck. I was thinking about a O.S. engine. Maybe a 21 or bigger. Or maybe a HPI. Tell me what engine you like. I favor a lower end truck for here in the Mtns. Thanks.

Well if you have a stock length T-Maxx you are pretty committed to a small block engine unless you get a purpose made engine like the OS .21TM or Picco .26 Max/Red Dot.

I was looking at the O.S. 21 and the picco .26. The .26 sounds like it is a very strong engine. Think it was 220 bucks, whereas the O.S. 21 was 180 bucks. Heck even the O.S. 18 would be strong after the pro. 15.lol

I used to have an OS .18TM and it was a great engine. The Picco .26 Max is stronger and faster than the OS .21TM. Both are good engines and should last a long time if cared for. The OS is a direct drop in and the Picco needs a $20 mount. So it is really a tough call to make. Personally I would go with the Picco again.

Okay just order a Tmaxx 4907 chassis with a few parts for 10 bucks. Brand new. I have a lot of work and money to put into it and time. What engines will fit into the chassis Easy. Big Block? Small? Tha.nks

That chassis will still only take a small block. IE, Traxxas 3.3, .18's, OS.21TM, RB TM523, Picco .26 Max. Any engine that has a smallblock footprint will fit for the most part.

I'd Go with an HPI Nitro Star power plant... Or you can go with TRX's 2.5R Powerplant you can get a TRX-2.5 R for under 200.00....

I don't want a Traxxas engine in this one. They run hotter then others and don't have as much power. My friend has the 3.3 and the O.S. 18 and the O.S. is about as strong and doest run near as hot. He also has a big block for his savage and it never gets hot. You can run it around and touch the head and it still not that hot.

I would like to have a OS,Hpi,Picco, etc atleast in the upper 20s and maybe lower 30s. Don't think OS makes one bigger than the 21 though?

OS makes engines in all sizes but the one made to fit the T-Maxx is the .21. I would not put the HPI Nitro star in there, there are decent engines but underpowered. I think you would be very happy with the .26 Picco Max, they are great engines, lots of power and you can have it run nice and cool without being strained.

The red dot .26 picco, is what I would go with. That is the engine I will be using in my next build those Picco engines are hard to beat.:D

i run a 2.5r in my Maxx, and 3.3 in my Revo and both run great. feel free to choose what ever motor you want, but keep in mind, that if the tune is off, it will cause any motor to run hot. usually when a motor is running hot, it's a bad tune, or the motor is on it's last leg ! just my 2 cents !

Temp guns show traxxas engines run alittle hotter. But mine have lasted for ever, I must say.

Also I noticed the sidewider 20% fuel I have been running has 10% oil content. Should this be higher is that \about the normal.

my VP race fuel, is 20% with 9% oil content. your right in the ballpark ! what temp is your engine running at ? my temps run between 220-240 on both my rigs !

my old 2.5 ran in that range......till it finally died !!!! 15 years old is a long time for a Nitro!!! LOL !!! good luck with your new build and mill !

I have an extended chassis T MAXX and I put a losi 3.4 in it with the R.O.S.S. set up and it's AWESOME. It does take a little custom work to get it in but the performance increase is so worth it. Way more torque and a couple m.p.h. in the top end. I love it.

the folks at traxxas told me that the extended chassis only have the plastic axles. You could not up grade to metal. Don't know if they know what they are talkin about.
