Who here actually takes their engines completely apart and inspects them before breaking them in?

I've read and seen a lot of complaints from people who have engine failures within their first 2 gallons, only to hear them say in the end that they didn't inspect their engines before they ran them.

No engine manufacturer is perfect. I've had a nova mega with metal shavings left over sitting in the crankcase and on top of the piston. That thing would have died well before it was broken in.. good way to "c.y.a.".

On both my Ninja .21 and V-Spec, I removed the head and button as well as the backplate to make sure there was nothing foreign inside. Even took the air compressor to them just to be safe.

I do the same. Heck I am going to seal it....might as well blow it out and then relube for break in. The Sirio 12 evo I got was NIB but if you are there, dang why not.

I am a bit too trusting.....if they are sealed from the factory I just get started breaking it in....been lucky so far.....but on used gear I ALWAYS do a break down and seal.

My 2 cents.....

I take them apart and clean it out with DA, lube with ARO and seal with RTV before bothering to run it. I've found a lot of aluminum dust and pieces in almost every engine I've bought. The 18TM for my revo was pretty clean.

Both the ninja and v-spec were spotless inside.
