New engine help needed

hey, I've recently just bought a new .28 engine for my t-maxx and have some problems with it. the engine starts and idles fine, but whenever i apply the throttle, it dies instantly. also while its idling, gas sprays out of the exhaust at an unsteady rate. I've only run 3.5 tanks through it (1st was at 1/4 speed, 2nd was a 50/50 mix of idling/1/4 speed, and the last 1.5 tanks were all idle) and was wondering if i did anything wrong, i need help.

The sputtering and dieing and the fuel spurting out the exhaust is a sign that it's too rich (common durring break in).
