What are you looking to spend?

If you can spend $200, look at the Ofna Picco .28. I got one recently and am just finishing breakin, its a beast of an engine.

I have heard good things about the Axial .28 as well. Its a bit cheaper at $160 ish.

200 and under yeah i saw ur pics of ur truck its nice i found a engine its a
Sure Fire .32 or Ofna Picco .28 which one is betterfor the truck

What does "Better" mean to you?
Smaller with less horsepower is Better.....
Wont go as fast and will make less stress on the drive train.
Thats what is best for the truck. Is it best for you?

with power that pulls wheelies and fast acceleration

I want my Savage to walk Wheelies and so far I have not been able to do so. I was thinking about the picco 28 and a lower toothed clutch bell. Any thoughts?

aml48, you will need to go up teeth on the CB with a Picco .28. I run a Picco .28 and I went up to the 18, and I need to go even higher to keep the wheels on the ground.

You will need to go much taller with the gearing (bigger clutch bell) or your truck will not be able to keep the wheels on the ground. I run the old Picco .26 with 18/47 gearing and I can easily flip mine on its lid. Wheelies can get annoying very quickly.

Tower Hobbies is offering a $25 coupon right now so you can get the Picco 28 for $175.

I've seen an SH 28, OS 30, HPI 28, HPI 21, HPI 25, Omega 21 and my OS 21 Rg in savages.

I'd have liked to seen the OS 30 savage run a bit longer, but the owner was an idiot... it appeared that he had more money than sense. He was trying to run it without a header spring... then he tried duct tape... then he tried zipties... A grown man trying to use duct tape and zipties to hold a header onto the engine!

I'd also have like to seen the HPI 28 run longer, but it's owner was also an idiot. I saw it run for about half a tank. It was totally loaded down with every piece of GPM aluminum junk you could think of and he hit a curb at WOT... what do you know? Aluminum bends!

The ones I've seen run for any extended period of time were the OS 21 RG, Omega 21 comp (both mine) and the SH 28 (a friend of mine) and the HPI 25 and 21 were on some guys savages I had met out bashing. The SH 28 ran circles around me. The HPI 25 and 21 didn't. I could keep up with them pretty easy with the 21 RG and mine ran all day while they were constantly trying to tune theirs.

while on the lopic about gearing.........what is best for the wasp 28 ?........I'm runing a 52t spur gear with the cb that came allready mounted on the stock savage engine.......what would be the best cb & spur gear teeth to run on the wasp ?

i would say 15/49 or 18/52

These are bad suggestions. 15/49 is much too steep for a strong motor and 18/52 will not mesh properly.

I'd start with 16/49 and step up to 17/49 or 18/47 if you are getting too many wheelies.

I ran 18/52 before with no problems but it's just about the same ratio as 17/49.Try a 18 or 19 with a 47 spur..

For wheelies 18/52 would do better than 18/49.

what about ur tuneing i have been trying to tune it just right bet can't get there any sugestion

According to HPI 18/52 will not mesh, plus those two huge gears will push your motor all the way to the TVP. You would be much better off running a smaller spur. I tried 18/49 and I could barely get it to fit, no way 18/52 would have fit on my rig.

You're right it was a tight fit..
