I just got a new EMaxx - my first serious RC truck - and it's pretty awesome. It's the 3905 brushed model, didn't come with batteries but I had a couple 7.2v 1600mah packs that I put some TRA connectors on. I can't wait to take it to the track and try it out... I ran it on the street in front of my house for a few minutes, flipped it once turning a little too hard, it looks like it would flip itself over if I just punched it from sitting still!

I have a couple questions about it, and most the threads seem to be about TMaxxs. First, I was wondering what kind of performance jump I'll see when I put some 8.4v batteries in. Also, is there anything I need to do to break in the motors and what kind of maintenance should I do?

I dont know much about the emaxx but if you bump up to 8.4 packs from 7.2, their should be a noticeable difference in performance. Stepping up the voltage makes a big difference in most cases so I'm sure this will be the same. Once you can afford it, go brushless with lipo and the front end will never see the ground again lol.

Those 1600's are weak. Some good 4600 7 cells will really make it come alive. Close to twice as fast. Running with the 1600's was the perfect way to break the motors in. Look at intellect or tenergy batteries. Make sure your charger is up to the task.

I'm excited to see what it will do when I get some more powerful batteries. Right now I think I'll run it with the 7.2 volt batteries for a little while longer to break the engines in and get used to controlling it.

Gave myself a scare this morning when reverse wasn't working and then all the sudden it took off backwards like it was stuck in reverse - right into a ditch filled with water! Luckily these EMaxxs are pretty impervious, so I took it out and ran it up and down the street a little more to dry it off and then took it inside and throughly dried it with a towel.

Your motors are as broke in as they're going to get. Blast them out with motor spray and give the bushings a drop of thin oil. Your ready to rock.

Took the EMaxx to the track for the first time today. Even though it hasn't rained for a couple days, the track was still a mud pit... I ran through the mud for about 10 or 15 minutes, until my puny 1800 Mah batteries ran out of juice, then I took it home, hosed it down and blew it off real good with an air compressor. Though the instructions say waterproof, I still didn't feel real good about hosing it down, but it was so full of mud I can't think of how else I could have cleaned it.

A couple batteries will definitely be my next investment... I'm just waiting until I can find a good deal on some 3500+ 8.4v batteries.

Popping the esc off it wouldn't be a bad idea. Just make sure it drys good. If you hear any crunchin' or munchin' when you roll it, find where it's coming from and address it. I mean the carriers for the most part. diffs will be fine. Tranny's sealed. Just keep them motors clean. Any water that gets into them should be cleaned with motor spray. Don't want them gettin' rusty.
