hey guys. i was looking for new brakes cause the stock savage brakes suck. what are some decent brakes that actually stop the savage at a decent price? all the feedback will help. thanks
vince

and what is everything that i would need? thanks

I'll second that HB are the way to go. You can flip the truck over! Good luck

HPI now has a set of dual brakes for the Savage here is the part number 87150 1 Dual Disk Brake Set (Stainless Steel) 18.00.......and link to the home page, info on the new brake set is at the top of the page in red where it says check out the video

no matter what brake system you go with.. you still have to change the severo to a metal one.... i like the HB one myself... any will do...

ok thanks guys, but what do you mean change the severo?
vince

Brakes are only as good as the servo that is applying the pressure to them...... I use the stock brake with a Hitec 645 servo (133oz of torq) and it will flip over frontwards!

so jetmech, if i get the hitec 645 servo, would i have to get anything else?

and if i get a steering servo, would i still have to get a different servo for the brakes?thanks
vince

SaVaGeR21: your steering servo is separate from your brake servo. Your brake seervo controls your brakes and throttle, so you will have to get 2 Hitec 645 servo's. But well worth the money

i use the HB kit myself. the first pair of pads didnt last but about 2 hard braking stops. which it was my fault because i didnt glue the pads to the metal parts. they stopped pretty good but i went to the LHS and they didnt have the HB pads, they sold me some Thunder Tiger Helicopter clutch material. i had to cut out the pads and glue them on now my savage stops on a dime. if i turn the adjustment knob in it will flip easily. i am also running a high torque servo mines like 95 oz.

i picked up the HPI dual Stainless steel Breaks, the video looks good and i hear anything is better then stock :)

ill let ya know how they work once i get em on my truck :)

vince

check ebay, they sell for 34-50 bucks depending on the seller, i got one the other day for 36 bucks, my LHS sells them for 48. would rather buy from them, but 12 dollars is 12 dollars.
