Ordered a new body for my RMX 2.5. It’s a Nissan s14 Odyvia body from Aplastics. Let’s just say I’m a bit disappointed on this $70 purchase. The front bumper has a significant sized dimple in it and the fact that the window decals aren’t cut out seems a bit crazy to me…. I will be giving this to a friend to finish as I do not have the time or patience to deal with it. That being said I will be buying precut and pre painted bodies from now on🤦‍♂️

Yeah, lots of manu's are copping out for external printed window masks instead of providing inside body masks for painting.

O.K. I guess for those spraying a solid body color. But for those of us old-school that still prefer (mostly) clear windows, kind of a PITA.

In my opinion, for $70, I'd press for a refund and pre-paid return shipping. That said, body prices, esp. pre-painted, have been creeping up a bit too high to suit me. -AC

Or offer $25 its to keep this body as a practice/runner body if they agree to send a PERFECT replacement for shelf free of charge. 👍
1 for show, 1 for go! 😎
I'd bet that works better for the seller too.

You can probably work that wrinkle out pretty easily with a block behind it and a little heat from a hair dryer. I would shoe goo and drywall tape that front edge, because it will likely crack there pretty quickly after some abuse.

And I actually prefer uncut decals, as do a lot of folks. Precut decals always have that clear edge around them that looks like crap on the car. I use some good scissors and trim my decals - even if they are precut.

You can actually use those printed decals on the interior as masks 😉

Thanks for the heads up, I'll have to keep this in mind about Aplastics bodies.
I recently got a $26 Toyota Celica body made by Tamiya and it was fantastic - precut wheel arcs, and good precut masks, and of course no manufacturing defects! Hard to beat, but I wish they didn't predrill holes...

To be fair, that wrinkle is just a slight quality control issue. Could have happened at any point after making the body. @AjDale was everything else ok with the body? I mean aside from the blem and you not liking the decals, how was the rest of the body? Does it seem durable? I mean, just looking at it, it's better than what Pro-Line is putting out since Horizon bought them out.

That is one thing Tamiya does VERY well. I have had 4 Tamiya bodies, and every one of them has been absolutely fantastic. Their kits though, leave a heck of a lot to be desired 😉

Body actually came out very nice when it was all said and done!!

I'm actually glad I stumbled back into this thread. You just inspired me to get back to work on the 3 bathtubs (two SCT bodies, and one no-prep body) I need to paint. Got the SCT's in 3 coats of liquid mask. No-prep body is trimmed and smoothed and I just need to reprint my body mount. Then I'll catch it up on coats of LM so it's moving along with the SCT bodies have.

So thanks!
