Just got a flyer from Horrizon Hobby yesterday, and they are advertizing an Omega X-Citing X2 .21 that with the included motor mounts will drop right in a T-Maxx, or Revo.

The listed specs are:
Displacement- .21 (3.4cc)
Weight- 10.6 oz (300g)
RPM- 27,000
HP- 2.1

X2 electric start list price at Horizonhobby.com is $199.99, and the pull start version is $219.99. The real question I have is how much are the motor mounts, and can they be used to bolt any .21 in a T-Maxx with out a conversion kit? Ohh, wouldn't that be great!

Any .21 engine will not fit even with the motor mounts. The direct replacement .21's and the new Sirio .23 are hybrids and are more like mid sized engines. Larger than and .15 or .18, but smaller than a true .21.

The actual engine block is smaller while the piston sleeve is relatively the same size. In mags, they are reffered to as "mid" block engines. They are shorter front to back and narrower side to side.

I have an Omega 21 Comp in my savage. It seems to be a good solid engine. A little finicky to tune, but once it's on, it makes for a fun day. It's the cheapest Omega 21, so I didn't expect a lot, but it kicked my OS 21 RG's azz pretty bad. I'm at about 3 gallons and it still has a ton of pinch and runs really well.

Sorry, I guess I didn't realize other companies were making midsize blocks like the P2. Either way I havn't heard of this one yet.

I had one of the first P2 engines that were out. Lasted less then 2 tanks racing and that was due to using the stock exhaust header on it. You had all the fuel goin in (well I did) and when I took the engine apart after it loosing power when it got hot, the whole side of the exhaust port sleeve and piston had gotten real hot, and the rest looked great. My suggestion is to find a engine that has its own header, like the .23 Sirio if you want power and a big motor, or stick to a .21-28 and a conversion, but then you will spend a ton in hop ups with a Maxx to make it strong enough to hold the power. I have now built a Savage and am happy with it, without having to go to all the hop ups I did with the Maxx. I race both and each has some advantage over the other.

I think I am going to get a Sirio .18. They say 1.9 HP. That is enough for me, and I think my Maxx will handle that. I don't race the Maxx. Just a MT basher here. I race my Buggy, and hope to race my new MTX-3 next year after some practice. The touring car is why I haven't ordered a new engine for the Maxx yet. My bank account will have to recover a little first. Hopefully it won't take long. Depends on how much vaca costs next week.

the sirio 18s are discontinued. Sirio stopped making them and replaced them with the .23. The .23 is a direct drop in for the t-maxx 2.5 and comes with the motor mount and exhaust manifold.

Guess I made my discission a little late. That seems to happen to me alot. Oh well, off to search for the .23!

Can't say that I like the price much. Wasn't the .18 $189 or so. Crist for that price I might as well buy a conversion, and a true .21 don't you think?

Yeah, but I was hoping to get away with the way I have my Maxx set up now. MIP header, Traxxas allum. pipe, Motor Saver air filter, RRP FOC and primary gear, and Dynomite CVD's all the way around. Was hoping to stay out of the diffs. Any suggestions of what to add to go with a P2?

Not previously listed are:
Jr RS 300 Rx
Jr 270 throtle servo
Hitech 645 Steering servo
Dynomite Servo saver, and servo guard
Front Dynomite bulkhead, and skidplate

Hope to add:
matching rear bulkead, and skidplate
allum. mid chasis braces (don't know the correct term) and skid plate
40 series wheels, and tires
-and more as time goes on.

Oh yeah, and definately with a new engine, if not before will be a set of Powerstokes.

Why stay out of the diffs? The diffs and trans are a couple of the first things to go when you bolt in a 21 or larger engine. I'd suggest as much RRP steel for the trans as you can afford and either maximizer or kippster aluminum inner diff cups w/modified ring gears.

40 series wheels will hinder durability. They just create to my leverage IMHO to gain much benifit. Granted, they look cool and add some stability, but I don't know if that outweighs the damage they tend to cause (worn bearings, cracked rims, busted/bent arms, turnbuckle stress...).

As for the shocks, you can get a set of 4 supermaxx shocks that will bolt right up for $65. Thats what I run on my XTM 21 converted maxx and on my savage. I did see someone was selling a set of the powerstrokes in the FS/Trade forum.

Most of my recomendations are due to things I've dealt with on a converted 21 maxx. My diffs blew out pretty quick (the rear went first), then the trans kept chewing up forward primary gears and the top 2 speed gear.

As for the servo saver, the proline one is pretty good. It's what I've been running for quite some time. It takes the saver off of the servo and puts it in the bellcrank. Also, it uses bearings instead of bushings. It makes for a really smooth steering maxx.

I could do away with 2nd gear all together for all I care. I rarely get into it anyway. I do alot of short bursts to the jump, and hill climbing with my Maxx. I'll have to look into the diffs. Just didn't want to have a fortune in them. 40sereis look Fn sweet, but not a must. Now about those shocks. You have 4 total, or all 8 at $65 buck per 4? I've heard some good things about the Powerstrokes. My stock shocke have been rebuilt, and are again hosed. They are on their last leg. No more rebuilds here. Time for some new shocks.

Man did this thread get of topic. Oh well, what has anyone heard, or seen of the Omega .21 drop in?

I run 4 on each truck (21 maxx and savage). They are around $65 for a set of 4, but they can take some serious abuse.

When you get a 21 in there, you will be hitting second gear more often, that I can assure you. You may not hit second much now, but with a 21, it will(should) hit second in under 10 feet in most cases.

You can find the shocks here: Hobby Shop NJ - UE Page Once on this site, do a text search for UE10120 and it should take you right to them.

Looks like the price has gone up again... I bought mine when they were $54 for a set of 4.

Thanks, I put that site in my favorates to look at tomarrow. Looks like some really nice stuff.

If anybody is interested, I am selling a sirio .18 with a NOVA cooling head. Only has about 8 tanks on it. PM if interested
