hi today i ran my car for about 2 seconds before it cut out the engine would not turn over so i took it apart, there was loads of metal shavings in the liner so investigated futher, the piston had loads of shavings and some bits were welded on. in the end i descovered that the phospherous coated ring on the conrod had melted due to my old tune and that had broken up and scratched the piston and welded itself on to the liner. all in all i need a new conrod, piston lines and piston, all this costs nearley £95, share your horror stories wiv me.

If it made that much of a mess out of the engine... I'd probably just buy a new one and if you liked the old one, buy a new one that's like it and keep the old one for spare parts.

My worst engine issue was with a 1.5 gallon old OS21RG. One of the bearings in the rear main bearing split in half and cut a nice healthy gouge in the sleeve and piston:

Chipped up the con-rod and put nicks and dings all over inside the crank case on it's way through.

I had an RG push the piston head so hard into the cooling head it imprinted the bottom of the glow plug into the piston head....the conrod in that mill was the only weak point I ever saw.....but it's a 100 bucks for the whole mill and it was super easy to tune...

that os looks bad, how much did it cost to repair it or did you buy another one ??

It became a parts engine as I had a second one that I used as a winter engine. The second one is old and worn, so beating the crap out of it in the winter didn't concern me much. I just bought an XTM24.7 off ebay and ran that in the revo for a bit instead. Then realized I didn't care for a BB in the revo and put the OS18TM back in it.

Cycle of life... lol

I wish I had pics, my last Axial sent all the main bearings into the ports in the sleeve and mashed one up into the head button. It was ugly.
