I'm afraid that regardless what you go with, you will have slop on the axle unless you do a mod of some sort. The threads of the axle chew into the hub and make it sloppy after a short time. I've read about how to fix it on the "other" forum and the only fix cooked up is to get threaded tubing to cover the threads and grind down the outside of the tubing to fit in the hubs tightly to remove the slop.
Or, you can get the e-savage 17mm hex's. Normal savage 17mm hex's are made to fit a larger shaft where the pin goes through, but I'm 98% sure that the esavage shaft is the same as traxxas shafts. Then you use the hex just like your 14mm hex with a nut. I run the normal savage version on my savage, but haven't picked up a set for the e-savage yet to try on my revo in place of the OFNA ones I have now. I keep forgetting. Mine are getting silly sloppy, to the point that the last time I ran it, I thought all 4 wheel bearings were shot! lol
Kinda want to dig up this thead, i checked out what my local shop had on the shelf.
No maximizers, only set that they had for the maxx was a set of integy 17mm. I did not buy them based on brand. Also because I wanted to do some home work. At first look they seem to have advantages over Traxxas brand hexes. The fact that a nut tightens the hex against the rolled pin is what i liked. Brand name asside has anyone used these? please no integy bashing... I've heard it all.
Yeah I snapped a pin in maybe a weak.. I am going to check up at the lhs today and see what I can get for hex's up there... I beleive they have a bunch of hpi parts..
