I know you have it running, but in general, a cold plug is used with higher nitro like 30% due to ignition timing. The temp of the plug doesn't have anything to do with the ambient temps or engine temp, but rather the ignition of the fuel temp. Higher nitro is easier to ignite which is why a cooler plug is used.
Running the wrong temp of plug for your fuel/engine just throws off the timing of when the piston is coming up, the explosion happens and pushes the piston down. With lower nitro fuel and a cold plug, your probably igniting the fuel just at the very top of the stroke or as it's just on it's way down. Which means your losing power. Which may in turn cause you to over lean it to get some power back or to get it to run better.
Maybe try your medium plug and see how it does. I run 25% nitro and run medium plugs with good results. When I ran 20%, I ran hot plugs with good results.
