I have been looking into starter boxes for the buggy I just purchased from Ed. I was interested in
http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_info.php/products_id/8453
But I'm not real thrilled about the 1 review it has.. Can anyone help suggest a good starter box or at least tell me what to look for? I know enough to look for a offroad one (1/8th) but is there anything else I should look for??

Another thing I've been having a hard time deciding on is controllers/reciever to get. On my savage I had a Mx3 Airtronics that I liked, but with all the new age synthesized ones, I was thinking about going that route for the track.. I've looked into the Dx2 and Dx3 spektrum setups, but honestly, it seems like another language to me.. Anyone have any suggestions on what to get or what NOT to get? Id hate to get a chincy controller and box for such a nice buggy..

(I know ya guys hear these types of questions alot, and I'm sorry..lol.. I hate asking, but I'm totally lost here..)

I have that box for my ST-R except it has the power panel so I can ignite the glow plug with it and make it easy to charge the gel cell.

It has not failed me yet. It is a bit heavy but that has a lot to do with the gel cell. You could wire it to use twin 6 cell packs if you wanted.

Ditto ^^^, I've owned two of those boxes in the past and the single 12V motor has never failed to crank over any engine no matter how tight the compression.

Yup, thats the box to get. I just havent wanted to sell mine until the buggy goes..........

The Mugen box is one to consider as well.

As for a radio, do you have any issues/problems with the MX3? If you have a couple crystal sets, there really is no reason to get a new radio unless you really want one, you dont NEED a new one. A good FM radio is fine for any rc, if your bashing its really no problem, the only problem is conflicts when racing, and that problem is in practice more than not. With so many people on Spectrum now, it has opened up our regular freq.

It's funny you mention that about the crystals, it's a rarity to see someone using something outside of Spektrum or Nomadio anymore! LOL

I just ordered it up.. Should be here in 2-3 days.. Now just to find a controller and I should be good to go.

I agree :) Funny reading the temp gun thread and battery thread..
No need to buy a temp gun with a Nomadio radio or worry about knowing your true receiver voltage with a Nomadio radio. Then there is the thread about hooking up a radio to a USB to drive sims and VRC well with the React you have that built in as well thats like $200 of extra stuff you do not have to buy if you own a React.

I wish I was using a Spectrum..... I am currently in the Synthisized world. I would own a spectrum, but I have too much invested in RS310's to change now. My mistake.

I'll toss in another vote on the blue/chrome ofna box; I use it to bump over the mugen. You just have to let the motor spool up to speed before making contact.

The last power panel I ran, the regulator popped, and I blew out several glow plugs before I realised they were getting the full 12 volts.

I also use the blue chrome top Ofna box, and I would rather just carry the glow ignitor in my pocket. The power panel is nice, but a corded ingnitor and spining wheels is just asking for trouble. Just my opinion.
