Hello every one

i have a few questions for you .

when my truck at the .15 in it it ran like a champ never stalled but after putting in the 3.3 i have found that if ibump anything it will stall or when it engages into gear it would stall so i would have to roll the truck to get it to move. what would cause that ? spur gear pring to tight ? on the stock spur gears i ate 3 of them in 3 days 2 melted at the pressure plates and the 3rd was a lose air filter woops.

also is the stock 1.5 exaust good for a 3.3 or should i upgrade to something better ?

The 1.5 pipe is fine to use you will get lots of power out of it. There are better pipes out there if you want more punch. the stock pipe will still lift the front wheels on demand.

As for the sper gear going it sounds like the drive train is gamming some where. Check bolth diffs and the trans for freedom of move ment. somthing is loose and stopping the mill.

Also double check the mesh between the spur and the clutch bell. How old are the clutch shoes..if they are worn they will drag and cause it to stall.

clutch shoes i guess they would be orginal i have never changed them the truck i bought 2 months ago i would guess the truck is over 5 years old.

do i have to take apart the tranmission to get to the shoes ?

thanks for the help guys this is all new to me

is there a book a guy can down load off the net so i can see a parts list and where stuff is.

thanks for the link i printed off like 20 pages at work.

just for a quick review i dont notice anything about clutch shoes

The clutch shooes are on the engine itself under the clutchbell. Check to make sure the bell is clean of debris. Also check the shoes for glazing. A quick run with some scotchbrite or fine sandpaper will remove the haze/shine. Check the springs to make sure they are holding the shoes in place and are not loose. A loose shoe can engage the engine prematurely.

Ah

the clutch shoes should be like new the 3.3 motor may have about 4 hours of run time on it.

i am pulling the truck apart at the moment

is there anything i should do split the diffs oil or grease ?

split the transmission ?

As you remove parts check to see if they are loose or binding in any way before you remove them (!! Do not place any grease in the trans at all !!) but make sure it spins without binding. It is more likely to have a problem in the trans than in the diff. Also check your space between your clutch bell and the spur gear.

You went from an old .15 to the 3.3... with the old slipper/spur setup. This is going to be a mild headache in itself. The stalling on take off sounds like either a binding issue (as discussed) or your clutch shoes spring is weak and allows it to engage too early or you have a bearing going out on the CB itself.

As for the slipper/spur issue, take the spur/slipper apart, replace the 6 slipper pegs with 12 slipper pegs. This will allow you to get a "less" slippy slipper, but it will help get the power to the ground instead of turning the power of the 3.3 into a spur melter.

If you feel like dealing with it, I believe there is a conversion kit to replace the old slipper/spur mechanism with the newer one that is on the revo and 3.3 maxx. It's a much more robust setup and allows for higher power engines to be used without melting down spur gears. If you do go that route, I believe you will need a new CB as well since the tooth pitch of the spur is different.

it think you are right i check nothing seemed to be binding but the spur gear is set to tight at the moment since i was melting them off .

i have a trinity metal gear now with the 2 stage slip clutch i will install that and see how everthing works

thanks for the help guys.
i think the slipper clutch is the problem like you guys have said
