I decided to take my engine apart to clean it for the first time. I have gotten every thing out except the piston, sleeve, and the thing that turns the fly wheel. should i take these things out to clean it? basically to sum up all the questions in my head what should i not put in the alcohol and waht should i not put in the alcohol? For instence sould i take all the seals off? Oh and once i clean it how and what do i lube the parts back up w/. What is every thing you guys do when cleaning your engine?

i own a 2.5 t-maxx.
Thanks for the help.

I don't go as extream as most might.
Personaly what I do is (if needed), I'll take the piston and sleeve out, and the one way bearing.
Then I use trinity blast to get all the crap out.
I use after run oil to lube the parts before putting it back together.
Is there something wrong with your engine??
Usually I wont take it apart unless my air filter falls of mid run, and I don't notice.

I just anted to clean it,it looked pretty dirty is trinity blast a motor cleaner? Should i even need to soak it in any thing, i dont have any motor cleaner.I just read on here that a guy took hes apart and soaked it in alcohol to clean it.I was thinking there might have been an air lieek where the coupler meets the manifold cuz when i took it off the exhaust just fell of when i barley touched it or is that normal?idk

Well, you should have some zip ties holding that think on (the coupler).
As for the soaking, I think that motor spray does the best job.
Alcohol, I never used.

Get your self a brush and clean the heck out of the engine block and head. I use dish washing soap and water then soak the parts in after run. When rebuilding the engine I thread lock all the screws.

If I'm just doing a quick clean of the truck/engine/parts ill use some Dynamite Nitro Force cleaner or Associated NitroClean and wipe the stuff down with some paper towels.

If I'm thorouly(SP?) cleaning anything ill soak it in hot water with dishsoap in it (DAWN) and ill use a scrubby brush to clean it.
