I'm getting a new savage xl in a few days and I want to know some other peoples opinions on that specific truck :)

I got the savage x 4.6 and so far its been a good truck. Nothing different between the two except the XL has a bigger engine and is wider and longer... Neither seem necessary but I (being power hungry) would put the 5.9 in my X. Would i pay the extra money for the XL? No... The X does just fine and the body on the XL looks like crap in my opinion :)

The savage xl is a tad bigger, longer, taller and wider than the savage x and ss. Bigger engine means it guzzles more fuel. Longer and wider means it will handle turns and curves better. The body shell maybe a challenge to find at your LHS because of it's size, they may have fewer choices. But that is easily circumvented by buying online. If going big is your thing, I'm pretty sure you wont be disappointed. If you are buying it brand new, expect to pay around $570 plus for it, that comes with a 2.4 ghz radio.
To help you out further, I recommend reading some more in this forum X or XL
Best of luck in choosing your drug of choice, and happy bashing!

Thanks guys i have heard good things about the xl and I have heard terible things does anyone know of the good and bad about the truck? Does anyone own it for themselves?

i just went through this a fewmonths ago when i got my first nitro

goood its an solid truck outta the box runs on the street as well in backyard as big as they comefor 1/8th scale sturdy chasise. If your new the the hobby and your friends arent really into racing and speed then the savage is really awesome

Bad= to buy one new you’re spending close 2 600 on the xl... the losi xxl.. Is 630 and the mgt 8.0 is 500 brand new from factory. Now if ur new the sport you’re going to break stuff..Lots of stuff....i would say save your money buy used someone who got sick of spending money on there truck Spend no more then 250 for a rtr truck that’s used and then if you like it spend 200-300 on a motor or a 2.4 ghz controller but don’t drop close to 1000 and end up hating your truck plus the factory tires are garbage on the savage

Btw in the last 3 months I’ve bought 2 monster trucks a savage xl with a lrp spec 3 and a team associate mgt8.0 with an axial 28rr

both are awesome trucks I'm jus breaking in the savage but with the 3 speed tranny its fast… as fast as u want a monster truck 2 go the savage was a roller i got for 250 the motor and tranny were much more expensive plus I bought a 2.4 ghz controller but I still came in well under 600$ total and the the mgt i got for 225 rtr....there fun but just do your homework before you spend all that money

Longest single sentence I have ever read.

Pretty mind numbing stuff. If/when you get your XL, seal the engine right away. If your not happy with it, step up to a .28 LRP. Do a search on LRP in the Savage forum and you'll get all the info you need. Read olds97's posts. And as always, ask us anything that comes to mind.
