i was going to build a dragster just like that , a bo link pro stock or funny car tho. with the .27 (running lean of course) on 40% nitro. but then i decided i can just put a .21 8 port or .27 11 port into my supernitro and have it go just as fast and turn... i still may get a dragster tho.

micros rule...

I have a weed wacker that I took out of one of my fastest drag boat, and it does 93.21mph. You wont get much faster than that with nitro unless you have a groomed track and lots of space.

P.S. The super charger wont do anything, by the time you have the resistance of the super charger pullies and belts, it will slow the engine down.
It is to heavy and wont make up for the power loss, and the charger wont make the power up after all that.
Waste of time to super charge it.
Pete

Here is a nice article from RC Nitro about a project they did on an HPI Super Nitro RS4. They were trying to hit 100MPH or bust. It's not a drag car, but what's the difference? It still hits 100MPH. The good thing is that they give you a break down of every part that they used. The bad thing is that is cost a grip of $$$$. But it might give you some good ideas. They hit 101.7MPH

kwowg so you mean that a plane motor can be used on a dragster what one is best for this the machining is no problem i can do this. can one be used on a touring car also. for higher speeds let me know or is thier a faster motor than a sirio .27 11 port turbo.

If you're trying to use an airplane engine, you'll have to fabricate pretty much the entire drivetrain. Engine mount, flywheel, clutch, clutch bell, pinion gears, spur gears...

And if you use a YS engine like I suggested, you'd have to have radically different gearing compared to using a car engine because YS's only rev safely to like 8000-9000rpm.

It would just be a big pain in the ass unless you are really good with a CNC machine.

You'd also have to design the entire car pretty much from scratch because of the engine size difference. Also, cooling will be a big thing with an airplane engine.

i'm a certified machinest done it for 12 years now so no problem on that. the cooling well if one run it for only afew minutes would it over heat much then. would crom molly alum. be great for this thin light and very strong cress the edges so thier won't be know tweeking of the chasey. so that would be a better set up you think than a jet powered dragster.

Well all you'd really need is a big cooling head. For the metal, you want quite a bit around the engine. Like on the motormounts and stuff cuz you want it to dissapate heat as much as you can.

I find it hard to believe that nobody has never dared to suggesta high end boat engine??????? I've seen some somewhere (can't remember where unfortunately) some engines that make like 5-8 hp. They require like 60% nitro content. I wonder if a skilled metalsmith could make a mini radiator?? lots of horsepower and still have good rpms. And water cooled on top of it. Damn, I wish I knew where I stumbled on those engines... crap. :(

This thing has been dug up more times than my dogs bone! And no I never ventured into the high speed realm. Shame really.

Well get on it.. damm now that I see this thread. I want to do one. I have access to asphault and I have pleanty of land do build my own track..lol..
