I just got this t-maxx in a trade. I'm new to the nitro scene so i dont know much about it. Wanting to see if someone can look at my rig and tell my what I have, and if what the previous owner said it has is true... If you can identify any parts please post up!

This is what he told me about it...
It has the hpi 4.1, tuned exhaust, upgrades chassis and frame...

ANY HELP APPRECIATED!

btw..it was together when i got it. I took it apart for cleaning.....

Looks like the guy was not lying. A t-maxx, a lot of the aluminum parts you see are after market like the a-arms, skid plate, chassis braces, I'm sure it has an extended chassis for the big block, looks like the throttle servo was re-located, witch is often done for a better angle to the carb so that looks good, nice paddles, don't know much about that engine, but i will say it definitely is not any 2.5 or 3.3, tuned pipe looks good, looks like an upgraded slipper system, witch is the big gear system on the transmission, definitely a lot of aluminum, in my opinion, you have a nice rig there, and for a starter, looks like your a bit on the lucky side...hope it is some sort of a help...:)

A suggestion, might want to look at the metal drive shafts, looks like the ones on it are stock, witch may be more apt to break with the big engine...:)

I really want to say the transmission is a 3.3 tranny, but i am not positive, but i would say it has an almost complete aluminum kit, big block with the tuned exhaust, lacking the metal drive shafts it is close to "done right up" , metal drive shafts, and a good suspension upgrade would be good for that machine!!...:)

It's a Dynamite big block conversion chassis. The aluminum A-arms need to be sold while they're still straight. They'll bend, rendering them useless. The slipper is stock 3.3. It looks like it is what the seller says it is.

Yeah i would agree, you were told right! Matt is right about them a-arms, and looks like a correction was made about the transmission and slipper, if you took a look at pictures of a stock t-maxx, you should be able to see the most of the differences, but a nice rig indeed! If your looking for specific details on certain parts, ask, someone in this forum will know! :)

Thanks for all the help! Headed to hobby shop this weekend to get a glow plug igniter and charger so we can see hows its gonna run. ..

You think it's better to keep the stock a-arms. I have heard a couple people against aluminum in certain areas due to the fact that aluminum will bend and the stock will flex a little ???

RPM Arms are the only way to go.. aluminum will bend, stock will break.. rpms are durable and waranteed if they do break

I'm pretty sure just about everyone here that does not believe in superchargers does not believe in the aluminum lol, minus a few, i will not use the aluminum a-arms, the plastics i think can be really good with bending and avoiding long term damage, and i live I'm maine, having rock walls everywhere i have to plan for impact haha..:)

if i can find set of RPM arms on ebay. How much is too much to spend?

Would think he had an air filter, to go along with the fuel tank...he said took it a part for cleaning......

From the picture I'm looking at, i see some grime on the carb opening, where a filter should be, which usually makes one think that there hasnt been one on there for a while.

Yep! i was looking at that as well, lets hope that engine had one lol, he sounded skeptical when talking of the guy he got it from, lets hope he did not get ripped due to some witt not using an air filter! :) Now i wonder how much he actually took a part, and what is plain missing....

If you look close, i think there is a bracket for an air filter right beside the breaking system...

It is hooked to the transmission, right behind the slipper...of course that does not mean there was one, but its a clue!! :)

That engine needs to be completely torn apart, cleaned and sealed. Especially if it's been sitting around with the air filter off and/or you've never seen it run.

TLC-Tender Loving Care, sorry, i know the web does not always like the acronym's ...:)

Matt, that makes me feel so good inside. I got your back! :p::hehe:

just to clear up a lil confusion.... Heres a pic of it all put back together. As for the dirt....I got the bright idea to take a few parts off, including the air filter...then sprayed another dirty part of the truck with a can of air. Needless to say dirt went everywhere. I got it all out of the carb after that...just didnt think to clean it up real good before i took pics. Was still kinda in the excited to finely get a nitro mode....didnt think:D

Well thats not good, if you got stuff down in the carb, you may be in trouble! I would hope no dirt or dust got down inside that engine, that may have been a bad move, now, i would definitely suggest dis-assembling that engine, and cleaning all of it, or you could have problems when you get it running, if any sand is in there, or dust/debris, once it is running, the term for that would be "sand blast" famously said not too long ago on this forum when someone asked if using an air filter was necessary....Don't mean to be a buzz kill, but you may want to do some cleaning/sealing to that engine, and leak tests, before trying to run it, being a second hand engine that has been sitting, it may have some small issues that will need tending to before you run it.....
