I just got a rs4 in a trade but it doesn't have any electronics so could someone recommend what to get that won't break me to bad money wise? Also need servos as well. Is there any other upgrades I need to make as well? Please help I am new to this type of car I have a savage 25 and a baja 5b so I am familiar with thes

I don't have a set price to be honest. Can you give me your opinion just in general what you think is reasonable way to go?

Ok thanks for the help everyone. I will try to find help some where else since everyone is busy on here.

Relax, patience young padawan. The cheapest place to get anything RC that I personally know of is from Hobby King. But, it will take a few weeks to get here, as it will ship from Honk Kong I think is where they're at. What are you wanting in the way of an engine setup? A cheap, beater brushed setup, or a hot fast brushless setup? Servos can be had pretty cheap anywhere, motor & ESC is where the money comes in.

I have a os max engine not sure on size it has 15cv on the side. I meant like servos and remote and receiver set up.

plus battery such as hump pack or just batteries?

The OS are great engines, my old CVR-X is still going after all these years in my own RS4. Pretty much any standard servo will work for throttle / brakes, but might not provide as strong of braking. The good thing is it's a lightweight touring car, so it won't need much force.

For a radio, you can hit up HK as I listed and get a brand new 2.4 setup for less than $40. Alternatively, I snagged a new Traxxas link 2.4 with receiver off ebay for $35, and I love it. It IS a no frills setup (no LCD etc) but, it does have all the important adjustments like EPA, dual rate, etc.

You can use a battery box and AA's, but I highly recommend a good receiver pack. It will last longer, and give more voltage to the electronics as well.

Also, make sure you pick up a fail safe for it, they're cheap insurance for your investment. Ask me how I learned that one, and what a 55mph head on with a curb costs with an RS4 :D

Ok can you be more specific on what receiver pack? I have a hpi sf2 servo but can't seem to get the connector arm from the car to slide on to the top of the servo itself. Are there different sizes or just have to be more firm with it to make it fit?

Here's you a pack

Are you talking about the servo horn? The arm that actually attaches to the servo to pull the throttle / brake linkage? If so, they are splined on both pieces, you may have to rotate it slightly one way or the other and you'll feel the splines line up, then you can push it down on there and put the retaining screw in.

Can you tell me another place to see that pack it says that its been removed or something so I can't seee it. And yes that is the part I am talking about I tried to push it on and rotate a little but still seemed really tight so I didn't want to smash anything.

Ok I see the battery pack you mentioned. I appreciate all of your help and advice do you have any other advice you could give me on anything to upgrade or anything else you can think of?

What about the hpi 2.4ghz remote and receiver will they work as well or is the traxxas better?

HPI SAVAGE XL 2.4 GHZ RADIO AND RECEIVER or HPI Savage Compatible 2-Channel 2.4GHz Spectrum Radio will any of these 2 work or can i find something cheaper?

You can use basically any radio you want, it's all personal preference. But for the money on ebay, it's hard to beat the LINK system IMHO.

Ok I bought almost everything I needed on ebay today. I got the battery you told me to get, hpi 2.4 remote with receiver, a servo and a lot of parts I needed as well. Hopefully that will get me going for now. Thanks for the help. If you think of anything else let me know.
