my front shocks end rods keeps falling off!!

Everytime i go off a jump my front end rods keep coming off, its like they are being pushed out, i know i tight them so they can't move. Could my problem be iam running too heavy weight oil in my fronts? iam running 60w in all my rear and front shocks, shoud i lower my shock weight for my front ones to like a 30W or something, all help would be great

ps: iam running supermaxx racerx super shocks i only have 2 in front and 2 in rear

You might be running some heavier than necessary oil. I ran 60wt in my Maxx shocks, and went with 30/35wt oil in my buggy shocks (both on the buggy and the Savage).

Other than that, perhaps your rod ends just suck.

so could it do with my rod ends, i went and bought the motherload so i hope they will work this time around!

Yes, it could be weak rod ends. It might also be the balls that you are using the rod ends with. Without actually seeing your set up close and personal like, it is hard to say specifically. I run a similar set up and have not popped a shock off, yet. I run lighter oil in my shocks (30/35 wt depending of front or rear).

My savage ran the stock weight oil and heavy dual rate springs and I never had any shock related problems. I've always prefered for massive air to use heavy springs and light shock oil.

That is fine, EP. He is, however, running a different set up with buggy shocks and heavy oil (his set up is similar to my own). So the physics of what his problem is are slightly different than the set up you are describing.

Try washers underneath the nut and bolt head on your shocks and see if that will help you. It sounds like a similar problem I had.

My tie rod ends kept popping off and I put a washer underneath the screw head, that is just slightly larger than your screw head. I then put a washer on the inboard and outboard tie rod ends on front and back and I never had a problem since.

well i tihnk i found my problem, but iam waiting for some shock parts, i never put those metal balls into the tie rod so all i was using was a screw to put the tie rod in place, opps! :sorry:

LMAO...Oops is an understatement. Glad you found and are solving your problem.

ok i dont know what to do now!!. My right end rod on my shock keeps coming off after every jump i land. It is is frustrated when its only one little thing from letting me drive my car. What could my problem be, i have pushed the end rod on my shaft so hard that my hand and pliers has bloody marks on them. It just keeps popping out for no damn reason!!! is there end rods i can put on the supermaxx shocks that are better then the ones that came with it. please help a fellow rcer in times of need!! would any 1/8 scale rod end work at all??

Next time try and add to your already existant post. Duplicate posting is not appreciated nor tolerated. Good day.

sry about the double post, yes its the plastic rod that goes on the screw end, man maybe i need better end rods, what to do?

If you are pushing the rod ends onto the screw part of the shaft, that might be the problem. The rod is threaded for a reason; you are supposed to screw the rod end onto the shaft.

well ok.. i will do, man am i stupid, i will stop talking to save the trouble. STUPID STUPID!! :trout:

OOOOOOOOhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.... now I get it! I couldn't figure out what the hell you were doing! I have the same shocks and don't have the problem at all so it was stumping me. Didn't realize you weren't screwing the end on the shock shaft.
