Cleaning up that chassis and getting some better pics from different angles would help.

given the color and chassis build i almost want to say kyosho or tamiya, but i don't remember them making a car chassis layout like that.
sadly 9 times out of 10 the body doesn't help identify what vehicle it is because they are very interchangeable and one of the first customization's that people do.
maybe a picture of the front and rears and a more top view pic once cleaned up would help to identify.

might have spoken too soon, I'm almost positive its a Tamiya TA-01 chassis

This was in the box also iam assuming it's old esc. Just curious that's all I was always Intrested in rc cars an never got around to it. My son who 9 just started getting into it with rc club at school. So I picked these up with a barely used losi 8ight buggy nitro 2.0 unfortunately. For 100 bucks plus all the spare parts. An motors. Csnt complain
Those old? Still can get parts for the chassis?

that is called an MSC, manual speed controller, it was pretty much a servo that swiped the servo arm across resistors to add more resistance to go slow and full throttle only be across the last resistor causing least resistance, they are very old (old as far as RC's go anyway), 80's-early 90's old (saying thats old is making me feel old now...). they are very inefficient as its always drawing the same current as full throttle but only using a portion of it.
that is an awesome deal for both at 100$ what was unfortunate?
as far as spare parts, id find a manual to get part numbers and trry to find them that way, given that it is a tamiya though and a pretty popular one at that in the day, there are probably a few aftermarket part manufacturers for it.

Unfortunately the 2.0. Like I said iam new at this an it took awhile to find parts for it. Guy bought it new, First time using it he smashed a curb. Just front shock tower broke an small parts up front broke. He said 100 bucks and I can take the electric one also. Stuff been just sitting for years in boxes. So I did it
Figured I'd get 2 decent ones for the kid for 100 an fix them instead of spending decent money on his first one. Sorry I keep rambling. Just was hoping I can see of the 2.0 chassis has anything in common with the 3.0 which I can find more parts for. Well easyier to find. Thanks for the info much appreciated.

Awesome thank alot. Gonna fill the cart lol. I'll keep ya posted with pics after I up grade a few things. The losi parts will be here this weekend. Hope to have that running by Monday.

and for 100$ that is one great deal! even for older ones, team losi is a really really good brand is typically main reason why people dont get them is because how much they are, parts aren't much more expensive, but the trucks as a whole are.
best bet to get parts especially for non current RC's is to get the manual and get part numbers and plug them into ebay.
sucks it was smashed into a curb, do you know if he broke it in after he bought it? id definitely set the carb back to factory settings when you start running it again and kind of re-break it in unless you know for certain that it was broken in fully.

helps me still and I've been running them for awhile. if it did sit for awhile id definitely strip the engine and clean it. may need new gaskets for the carb. they tend to harden over time. also if you havent already got them id get a few extra glow plugs to have on hand. and get new fuel tubing to have on hand. air leaks or a PITA.
hope the rebuilding goes well. personally i like tearing the RC's all the way down first thing to
A: learn the vehicle and
B: check for parts that are Missing/need repair
also welcome to the forum! lots of very knowledgeable people on here, have helped me out more times than i can count.
I know someone beat me to it in ID'ing it, but, do you have the side plates for the chassis? The side plates will tell if it is an 01 or 02 chassis, because they have a slightly different design to them. For that chassis, since its the on road vesion, if you are interested, the original body was a Lancia Delta HF Integrale, a Toyota Celica GT, or a Ford Escort Cosworth. My favorite look was the Lancia.
