Does the engine slow at all when you apply brakes? (possible linkage slop issue)
Does it seem to run hot in general? (tune or air leak)
See any standing fuel on the chassis anywhere near the tank or engine? (cracked tank/crankase)

Any of those would give you an iffy idle.

Do the tires spin while your cranking the engine to start it?

They spin when its idling, it doesn't spin while I'm cranking the engine.

It slows for a couple of seconds, and then it doesn't slow when i press the brakes. I did take the linkage off because i needed to get to the exhaust manifold screw because it came off and i had to replace it.
What do you mean by running hot? if you mean if it runs fast right as we start it then yes.
I do not see any standing fuel, and i don't think there are any air leaks.

By hot, I mean high engine temp. With a infrared thermometer pointed down in the glowplug area when running, it should run between 210F-270F once it's warmed up and you've run it a bit. 270F is on the high side.

I do not have an infrared thermometer, i will look forward to by one.
