Hi, i need some help building my R40, This is my first kit and i have some doubts about step 9 from page 15. Those little pins (#72277). How can i make them stay on the 2 speed shaft?

Can anyone show me a picture of that part all togther please. I'll apreciate it.

I'm having a real hard time on this part of the manual.

Actually, I'm hating this Instructions manual.

:depress:

You see part 73476? When you put the pin through the shaft, this part will then slide over the pin, you see the notch in the back of part 73476? The same thing will apply for part # 73477, the notch slides over the pin on the shaft.

The HPI manuals aren't very detailed at all. I remember that same part when I was putting together my SS. The stupid directions tell you to put the pins in, then, a couple steps later, they tell you to slide the thing on... they wrote the manual expecting the pins to just stay in there or something.

Thanx a lot for your reply....please dont go far cause i'm pritty sure i'll need to come and ask something else later.

Also is there any way to identify the bearing that i need to use in that part....Dammm all the bearing are alike.

Thanx again for your help

The size of that bearing is 6x13x5mm. That manual should be like the one for the Savage SS, just lay the bearing over the pic of the bearing in the list of items needed to complete that step, it should match up.

Ok guys...i just finished with BAG A. I'm so happy. hehehehe....I'm sure that there is nothing more exiting than building your kit. I have a question.... Does the Brake Disc stays that loose? It is just dancing between the brake pads. Is there any part that will make it stay firm there or it is just like that. Thanx for your help again.

It stays loose like that. That's a good sign that you haven't tightened your pads down too much. You want them as close as possible while still allowing the disc to spin freely.

mmm kul. But what happens is that it is too loose. If you take a look on page 15 of the manual you will see taht the brake disk goes into two pins that are into part 73476. I putted the brake disk there but there is nothing that secure it there....It stays just floating around and some plastics from the chasis are the one that prevents it to fell.

Is that the way it is suppouse to be.

Thanx, and sorry for been that PIA, but i want my car to be perfect at the end.

Hi,

I have another question guys,

If you take a look on the manual on page 21 step 21, i need to use the part 23T but i also have here a 22. Do i need to decide wich one i want to use or that part will go in another place....i took a look on the manual on next pages and i didnt see any other place were i need to use it.

If i´m the one who needs to decide wich one to use. Wich will be better and what´s the differences between those two parts 23T and 22T.

I saw your question on RCUniverse and it looks like the 22T pullet is what you'd use to overdrive the front wheels compared to the rear. I'm sure there's someone here that knows for certain.

I think because RCUniverse gets so many posts a day that they get bumped down to page 2 so fast that it's hard to get a reply sometimes.

Thanx people.....yes i posted this question on RC universe too and on RCCA as well.....i use to do that when i have a question...that way i can get different opinion and i can get an andwer from at leats one site....i´m starting on this hobbie so i want to get all the information that i can.

Thanx for your help again...

I have another question people. :sorry:

Where can i get that FAILSAFE and how much it is going to be. Also for Radio i think i´ll go with the JR XS3, it seems to be a good radio.....I´m planning to spend about 130 to 175 $$ on the radio....Can you give some good model around that price....The XS3 is at 240 but if a dont find something less expensive i´ll go with that one. I heard good things about the Futaba 3PDF, but it seems to be descontinued, Is that true??

I heard some good things about the Airtronics MX3 to. Please help me out here.

I have a nother question regarding Engines.....Seen this is my first Car i want to go with something not that expensive (Nova Fantini Modified, RB ***** modified or something like that), I want one good engine that can help me better my drivers skills and them i can spend more money on Crhistmas for a real Competitive engine. I have herad a lot about the Mugen MT-12 but i´m having problems finding a good site to order it. It is out of stock on most of the site i saw it. Is it discotinued or something loke that ??

Again thanx for your help. Someday i´ll be able to help oter people too...

Thanx a lot.....will that engine fit into my R40??

Also is the Airtronics MX-3 a good radio....the price looks fine...i can order both parts from that site. Is this site a good site to order parts from??

I live in Panama so it will be an international order.

THANX

i dont know if that engine will fit

the mx-3 radio is a good radio

from what iver heard its a good site

Yeah, a lot of people like the MX-3. It's a fairly inexpensive and popular radio.

Any .12 or .15 motor should work in that car. Your manual should be clear as to exactly what kind it needs, it might have to be a rear exhaust motor. HPI has the Nitro Star 12R XS engine on their website that they specifically mention for the R40. I know little about all the different nitro engines, but HPI claims this one has 1.35hp. Ask around.

Hi people............

I decided to go with the MT-12 for my R40. New questions came in. On my LHS here in Panama they have it at 235.00, and i've seen it at 160.00 on some online stores. Do they have different versions like 3 or 5 ports, Turbo or non-turbo. If anyone have this info please let me know before i spend 70 extra dollars in something.

I have no idea why it is that expensive here.... :(
