Need advice

So turns out my supposed 2000 yz250 is a 97... The guy I got it from assured me it was a 2000 and he had the pink "somewhere" and was going to mail it to me so we did a written bill of sale. He says he mailed it I never got it. Well I order 300 dollars worth of parts for it and they dont fit.... Look up the vin its a 97! I dont know what to do he says he will give me my money back but not all of it and he is in vegas right now. I doubt I would be able to resell it for 1200 and I am almost scared to go to dmv to try and get the pink cause of all the lies so far. He claims he is going to take it to the guy he got it from and get his money back. What should I do? Keep it, hope its not stolen and try to get my money back out of it? Try to talk him into giving me all my money back? I donno. I know I don't want it. Its to old and hard to get parts for. This is the kind of poop I always end up with god it pisses me off.

I'd give him an ultimatum, all your money or turn him in to authorities. That's plain and simple fraud.

P.S. NEVER buy a titled vehicle from a private party if you cannot check the VIN with the title.

Ya I'm a retard. I drove 2 hours to get it and he SEEMED like a good guy. Of corse... Oh and the bill of sale he wrote me has that I bought it for 100 bucks so I didnt have to pay as much taxes lol. GREAT! I think I will just keep it and either ride it or try to sell it. Hope its not stolen.

I've done that also. I didn't check the vin on the bill of sale and it was wrong. The guy was no where to be found and I was screwed. So I traded it for two rc cars. I hope that everything works out for you. Good luck and ride it like its stolen. Jk which I hope its not.

I'm just going to keep it. The only parts I need to ship back and reorder are the fork seals, reeds and clutch cable everything else should work. I got a mudflap, rear tire, bolt kit, clutch perch and lever. The guy is being a peepee now so whatever. I guess its still the same bike I liked before I knew it was older. Just sucks cause its harder to get parts for. I will ride this one till I can afford a new one I guess.
