Hi, i want to get a 1/8 scale buggy and i want to race in the future. I already had JR XR3 Radio, hyper 21 engine(originally for my savage, but i bought another engine(picco.26)), and i was thinking to get a buggy. I was wondering which one to get since there are too many of them out there. I know that one of the best one is kyosho kanai but it cost a fortune. I was wondering which one to get since i already have the engine and a radio. all I need now is just the buggy, starter box, and the servos. Can somebody tell me what to get? My budget is around $500 max. Thank you very much.

I was just told that an Inferno was a good way to go and I am glad I bought it. My roommate just bought a GS Storm and I was almost equally impressed. I was also told that the Mugen buggy was a goos one to choose but I have zero practical experience with them.

I have a Mugen MBX5 and I love the thing. I have a thread on here where I have talked about it. It is an all out racer. Also check into the Kyosho buggies. I have had one in the past and they are good.

Yeah! I love this thread. Sorry to be a jerk but if you would like to see a lot of info on the subject you typed and a whole lot more information that you didn't want you can type that question or at least the keywords into the search function. Welcome to the site glad you found the light!

Yeah go with whichever tickles your fancy really. Just stay away from the lower end Ofna's... if your going with Ofna - stick with a 9.5 or Hyper7 evolution - nothing else.

Personally i'd have to throw in a reccomendation for the Hot Bodies Lightning RR/Pro. The Pro has lots of neat hopups, and costs very reasonably... and its your ideal 'perfect' kyosho copy.... meaning its very, very close. Upgrade a few parts that go bang - wheels, wing, and some others, and you should have some decent racebred gear for half the price you'd pay for something designed by Kanai.

Almost as good, for half the price. Can't exactly pass that up...

The Kyosho Inferno MP 7.5 is my favorite.

Mugen MBX5 looks very promising ;) FlyinRazorback can attest to its performance.

I like the High End OFNA's as well.

Kyosho Inferno Kit - 489.00
GS Storm Pro Kit - 449.00
Mugen MBX5 - 529.00

These are all top notch proven race winners. cannot go wrong with any of them.

Where can I Get a Mugen MBX5 for $529.00? The cheapest I've ever seen it was $569.00?

stormer hobbies has it for 549.00 - I can get it here at my LHS for 529.00

I looked at the storm pro and liked it alot, but i thought the Mugen MBX5 was more of a racer and thats what I'm looking for.

lol - NA, Cmon now...... A Storm Pro over the MBX-5 ????

Now that would take me some bigtime convincing.....

the storm pro has won several national titles over in europe - as well as many regional races here. The MBX has yet to win anything as it is too new.

If you get the GS Storm Pro you can be doing this. :radio:

If you wait to get the MBX5 all you will be able to do is this :marshall: until you can save up that kinda cash.

Tough decision....

hehe - shamless self plug here:

Purchase my GS Storm Pro kit for only 315.00! see photos in my gallery!
:redbuggy:

NA - you are right on the championships. But I'm going to go out on a limb here and say the MBX will clean up some titles VERY quickly and in the near future. I could be wrong though...... could be.....

They are all great rides in reality.

christian - i will say that on an even playing field - the MBX would probably edge out the storm - but to say it isnt a race buggy, as he did is completly wrong.

i guess, I'm just a lil wary when it comes to mugen seki. they seem to have this whole high price, super awesome race car image, yet i havnt really seen any proof yet. Their MRX3 8th scale onroad costs more than the serpent, yet they arnt placing in any races, the mtx3 touring car is also hidiously expensive, yet it hasnt really shown to be any better than the reflex or serpent. just seems to me that they are a lil to bling bling, and not enough trophies.
